Canon faxphone L100 I am receiving faxes, but I have been unsuccessful in all my attempts to SEND a fax. I either get #018 Busy/No Signal or "Stop" error message. I have a dial tone.

The #018 code indicates a problem connecting to the receiving fax machine.
That phone line maybe busy or disconnected. It can indicate that the receiving machine didn't answer and provide the expected fax tones within 35 seconds. The settings for your fax machine may be incompatible with the receiving fax machines settings. The L100 Fax Phone is compatible with G3 fax machines. (The communication issue between compatible machines means that they do not successfully handshake before the fax can be sent. It's like one machine is speaking Greek and the other Mandarin Chinese.) Check with the person to whom you are sending the fax and make sure that they aren't having telephone issues. Ask if the fax machine is ready to receive the fax. Also check that the two fax machines are compatible with each other.

If you are sending the fax to someone in a different country, you need to add a pause between the country code and the fax number. The Fax Phone needs a pause here to ensure proper dialing.

I hope this helps. You can get some information on fax problems from the Canon Knowledge Base, https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART152562&cat=5258B001&actp=LIST&showDraft=false and the Fax Machine Basic User Manual. The current link to the manual is https://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/8/0300007218/04/FAXPHONEL100_BASIC_usEN_3.pdf . See page 79 for information on the #018 code.

Cant receive faxes. constant busy signal when dialing in.

Hi Janet
Try using a standard phone to call your Fax Line
Connect a phone to this Line to test for voice
Disconnect Fax Machine from Phone Line
Reset Fax machine
The Fax machine is supposed to respond to the right tones being sent down the voice line
If it is not responding & all else works then check your Fax settings for "Receiving"

Whenever i send a fax, the machine confirms by viewing 'TRANSMITTING OK' but the addressee receives a blank document

Check the baud rate of your transmissions. Slow them down to the slowest setting and send a test fax to a helpful person. Slowly increase the baud rate (communication data speed) and send the fax test. When the fax doesn't show up on the receive site, then step one baud rate speed back, and save the setting.

It could also be your fax that is faulty, or even the receive sites fax, also being faulty.

To test your copy-head, insert a document into your loading section of the fax and press copy. If the copy prints out fine, then you know the head is reading correctly.

It is also possible that the receiver fax (the other end) has a printhead failure.

I want to connect my fax from my cannon mx340 and dont have a instuction manuel can some help me?

Plug in the RJ-11 cable at the phone jack and the MX340. Press the Fax button and then the Menu button to get the Fax Settings menu. Press the left/right arrows to highlight Fax Receive Mode. Then press OK. Select Telephone Priority Mode (you will always pick up the handset and then put it down if the call is a fax. If an answering machine is connected the Fax will be automatically answered), Fax Priority Mode (the fax will be automatically received. If you hear the machine's ringtone, pick up the handset and press Stop to answer the call.), Fax only or DRPD (distinctive ring - available extra from your telephone company). Press OK to save the setting. If you choose DRPD, you will need to teach the distinctive ring by calling the MX340 after setting the machine to listen to the ring. (See the manual.) To fax out, press Fax, put your item to fax face up in the ADF and then dial the fax number of your receipient.

Canon has the manuals for the Pixma MX340 available here: http://usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/printers_multifunction/office_all_in_one_inkjet_printers/pixma_mx340?selectedName=BrochuresAndManuals#BrochuresAndManuals .

I hope this helps.

Can't set mode to receive fax, read through manuel says DR mode in use. fax does'nt pickup when a fax or call comes in stuck in manual.

DR MODE is in use means that your machine is setup with the distinctive ring feature, to turn it off follow the directions below.

Turning off the Distinctive Ring
1 Press Menu/Set, 2, 0, 2.
2 Press ▲ or ▼ to select Off.
Press Menu/Set.

Fax machine picking up all calls

You must set the FAX RECEIVE MODE to FAX ONLY. The factory default is FAX/TELEPHONE. You can find the proceedure to change FAX RECEIVE MODE in your owners manual. IIf you don't have an owners manual, try pressing the MENU button, then scroll to one of the following: INITIAL SET-UP, FAX SET-UP, OR FAX RECEIVE MODE. One of these should get you to the FAX ONLY receive mode setting.
