Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a samsung 32 inch LCD HDTV and trying to hook up to Pioneer DVD player. There are three colors of wires to connect the DVD to the TV. I get the sound(audio) but not the video. It just shows black and blurry. What should I do?

Just make sure you hook up the wires to the correct plugs. They should be colr coded - red and white for audio and yellow for video. The sockets on the TV will have the same color code. If not, its just a matter of trying various combinations. If nothing works, then try using a different cable.

Hook up

Hi:
This type of hook up is only for television viewing, to view the DVD you might consider purchasing some componet cables, they are color coded so hooking up is a snap, on the back of the DVD player you will see three RCA type connections Red/Green/Blue. componet cables are also these colors, connect one end of the cables to it coorsponding color on the back of your DVD and the other in the same color connectors labeled componet 1 input on the back of your television. You will also need a red and white RCA connector also for the audio as this is sound, a total of 5 connections will complete the hook up. Or you can go the simple route and use RCA type cables that come as yellow/red/white but for the best picture use componet cables this will allow you to watch your movies in HD.

Blue picture

Be sure if you are using the 3 wire video (component input) that the green blue and red wires are connected correctly on DVD player and tv. If these are switched around or all three are not connected correctly you will get an off color picture. Do not confuse SINGLE WIRE (yellow composite video) with the 3 wire coponent or progressive scan inputs .

1. Verify connections are color coded.

2. If they are correct, take out movie, press Play/Stop at same time on the front of the unit (not remote) to reset any settings that may have been changed.

What wires are needed?

You will, at least, need what is called "component cables", usually remembered as "the wire with those three colors; red, white, and yellow". Connect those little plugs to their respective jacks on the back of your player and TV; color to same color, "out" on the player, and "in" on the TV.
