MY tv has a green swoop at the top. The colors will not converge and it has a double picture due to the convergence problem I think. Any help on this would be appreciated. Thank you.
I had a problem with my TV colors not lining up. One day I turned it on and the green was out of wack. I checked this message board and replaced the STK chips, bad soldering and all led to me just giving up on that and buying a whole new Convergence Board ($185). I replaced the missing silver box on the new board and I just plugged this in and though now my Green lines up okay, my red is out of whack. Is there something I am doing wrong? Can anyone help me? Did i miss a step? Frustrated......Bruce
Would you believe somebody tossed one of these out. I took it home and found the red out of whack. Upon inspection I found one of the 2.2ω resistors brown and reading open. I would like to replace it but need to know the specs on it as well as a source. (Radio Shack doesn't have it)

You need to go through the convergance process in set up.
I have a JVC AV-48WP74 that I repaired a few days a go... ghostly green wavy lines which is a convergence problem...it does not matter which of the three colours green, red, and ,or blue...it's all the same problem...there are 2 Identical big chips(IC,Transistors)that need to be replaced...no:STK 392-110 measure 2.5 x1.250 inches...they are installed vertically on 2 heat-sinks on a separate board close towards the front left of the tv if your facing the back of the tv with the brown panel removed...and the ac cord...there are 6 harnesses that must be removed from the pc -board...mark the harnesses with masking tape around the wires so they can be reinstalled in the right connections...there are white connectors at the end of the wires...they are female and male connectors...the first 4 get unplugged from the board...5 is unplugged from the other end of the harness and 6 is mounted on the right vertical of the board and is unplugged on the board...there are 4 plastic clips in front of the board-tv and 4 clips that the board slides into...be patient and careful because the board is flexible...once the board is out you can work on it...if you have experience with soldering electronic components this is an easy fix...if not I advise you to practice on a small soldering kit from your local electronics shop...there are 13 metal-film 2-watt resistors mounted in front of the chips which have to be looked and measured with a meter for their resistance value...if they all look good without any brown burn marks on them...then they do not have to be replaced they supply the chips with input and output voltages...there are 2 screws holding each chip which is mouted on each heat-sink...use solder wick or a solder-****** to remove the solder from the board there are 18 pins for each stk 392-110 chip...make sure to apply heat-sink compound on the chips before they are reinstalled on the heat-sinks...screw the chips first then solder them...it is very important to apply heat-sink compound between the chips and the heat-sinks bacause these chips run pretty hot...the 2 chips cost me 50 dollars...be careful the right side of the tv is high-voltage use caution...I've had my JVC for 4 years now...after I installed the board and the harnesses back and rechecked everything...turn it on and used the auto convergence mode in the menu...perfect-picture...I hope this helps...watch tv...
Replace the chips and resistors while your in there, and a sugeston, insted of sodering the chips in solder inline sockets in then insert the chips so if they go out again just unbolt from heatsink and pull the chips out, heres a place to get the chips http://www.electronix.com/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?ELECTRONIX_CATALOG_SESSID=845bd1c0577a04536d7540622dfd42b3&keywords=STK392-120&x=7&y=6 just type in the part number. I have a JVC AV-48WP74 rear projection big screen. It has convergence problems. I've changed convergence IC's before and this time it is not working out for me. I have put in two sets of brand new convergence ICs and they have had the same out come. It will not power up, the power light just flashes but if I put the original ones back in, it powers up fine. The convergence is off but it powers up. I've changed any bad resistors but if the original ones work then that cant be the issue. My supplier said that he could send me new ones but he doesn't think that it would solve the problem. What could the problem be?

I have a JVC 48 inch tv. I've had it for a few years. Today I was watching football and the TV sizzled and turned off. I unplugged everything and turned the tv on...same thing. Where is the problem ? Is it fixable ?
I have the same problem Green swoop and unable to perform convergence and I was told it would cost 3-4 hundred dollars min. to get it fixed. I would like to try and fix it my self before puting out that kind of money. I would like to know where I can get parts as well as what parts I should replace. The darn set does not have that many hrs on it.
Would you believe that somebody tossed one of these out? I took it home, plugged it in and found the red out of whack. I will be ordering the IC's (probably the 150's) but first I want to replace a resistor that is obviously bad. It is brown and reads open. My problem is, I don't know what type resistor it is. All I know is that it's a 2.2ω, 2W. Of course, my local Radio Shack doesn't have it. Can somebody give me the specs on this, and possibly a source? Thanks!
my red will not line up ive tried every thing on this tv i have even taking the front panel off and tried to fix internally but that just made it wourse is there a way to reset this tvs after you mess them up or am i just screwed?
