Immediately-within one second-push the MENU button on your remote. You should see a User Settings menu screen displayed. Use the arrows keys on the remote to highlight the Closed Caption option and press OK or SELECT on your remote to toggle Enable/Disable. Power on the Set-Top Box to return to watching TV.
If its remote control have a button marked "CC", pressing it once should make the Closed caption out. Pressing it again, the closed caption will re-appear. It will work like a toggle switch.

If the captions are turned off on your TV, they have to be coming from your cable box. The TV is just displaying what it's getting. Check your cable box menu and make sure captions are turned off there. Cable boxes, especially on digital systems, can prevent the TV's caption decoder from operating properly. So they need to be able to provide captioning, and I suspect you've turned it on somehow. Comcast should be able to tell you how to turn off captions if you can't figure out the menus.

somehow your closed captioner has been turned on and within that the text option has been turned on. If theres a menu button on the front of the tv you can navigate with the menu button and either the volume or channel buttons to select options and then navigate to closed caption and turn it off. If you dont have a menu button you will have to get a MID priced universal remote which will have your menu button programmed within it, some newer directv remotes have the menu function, you can go to radio shack and tell the guy there your problem and he will will most likely set you up with the proper universal remote which will enable you to shut that off.
