My computer also has the same problem. The drive isn't picked up, either on Windows XP or Linux.

It also doesn't work on my laptop and even a friend's laptop running XP.

Same problem - trying to store my music files for iTunes and my photos there - after about 9 months of working perfectly now it suddenly soesn't have anything inthe folders evern though the drive is still there. It shows the space being taken up and after a restart of the computer I see them there. When I use with iTunes sometimes it suddenly disappears.

The simpletech 1tb drive's case has issues. I had the same problem. It actually quit while I was running a video off the drive. I replaced the case by removing the harddrive from the one it came in and installing it in another case and now it works again.

The first thing I would try is installing the drivers it came with, but failing that you will need to replace it's case.

It has 4 screws to remove, 2 under the silver warranty voiding tape and 2 visable on the bottom side. Remove them, then use a flat screwdrive to pop the case open (gently). Then remove the harddrive.

You will need a case with SATA data AND power cables for this to work.

I have an Iomega external hard drive but my Acer Aspire One will not recognize the drive. It worked yesterday but today it is not recognizing the drive.

Hi

I guess that you have connected the external hard drive via a usb

have you tried plugging it into another usb

if it were not the case that it was working yesterday i would of said make sure the jumpers on the external hard drive are not set to master either take off completely or set to slave

hope this helps
