I have an older Weider Platinum Model# WESY78733 and the resistance motor that makes the weight adjustments has stopped working. Is there a quick fix for this problem or is it possible to order a replacement motor? This machine has helped me stay fit for years and I don't want to part with it.

This is a common problem with this machine, the wiring inside the back. Mine was broken too, it was just a loose wire, but the stupid wire is so inside a protective case, you have to take the whole machine apart to be able to reach it.

You'll need a technician to come to your home. Call Icon to get a reference.

SOURCE: I have a Weider Platinum XP800 Crossbow that will not start.

I had the same problem. Take off the black box at the base and check to see if any of the wires broke lose from the connectors, mine did. One pair of wires was alot shorter than the rest, so when the previous owner disassembled the crossbow he lifted the unit too far before disconnecting the wire connectors thus braking the two wires from the connector. Simply remove the remaining wire bits from the connector with something sharp (unplug machine from the wall). Then take the broken wires and push them down into the connector terminals with a butter knife. The terminals will cut through the wire insulation and make a contact with the wire. Problem solved.

My weider platinum home gym will not adjust weight- the resistance buttons increase and decrease, but the motor will not run

It sounds like the motor is burned out or the connections form the switch, or to the motor are bad. You'll need to troubleshoot with a voltage meter.

I just bought a used machine and the weight adjustment is inaccurate. I have to put it up to over 200 lbs resistance in order to get maybe 40 lbs despite what the machine reads. Is there something I can...

If you find the manual (quick online search) on page 23 there is a section under "RECALIBRATE THE MACHINE" .

Basically: Plug it in. Hold down the "Next" and "Resistance +" buttons together for 5+ seconds and release; some text will appear on the main display. Press "Next" again followed by pressing the "Resistance +" button again. The system should 'calibrate', you'll hear it moving thru the resistance lowest to highest (or vice versa). After it finishes it beeps or displays or both, unplug the system. When you plug it back up hopefully it fixes the problem.

Weider Crossbow Platinum The weight resistance needs calibration 20 lbs feels like 100 lbs. How can I fix this?

ADJUSTING THE RESISTANCE When the resistance setting changes, the motor will be heard. To prevent damage to the motor, do not pull any of the cables while the resistance setting is changing. If a cable is pulled, the words RELEASE HANDLES AND READJUST RESISTANCE AS DESIRED may appear in the main display on the console. If this message is displayed repeatedly but no cable is being pulled, there may be too much tension on the Upper Cable . Adjust the tension as described below. To decrease the tension on the Upper Cable.turn the two 3/8” x 38mm Tension Screws twice, counterclockwise. Select the desired resistance setting.Repeat this step if necessary.CLEANING THE BAR GUIDES Over time, dust may build up on the Crossbar Guides , causing a squeaking noise as the resistance system is used. If this occurs, wipe off the Crossbar Guides with a damp cloth and a mild, non-abrasive detergent. Do not use solvents.
RECALIBRATING THE CONSOLE To recalibrate the Console , first plug in the resistance system . Plug the indicated end of the Transformer into the Back Mech Cover . Plug the other end of the Transformer into a 120-volt outlet. All indicators and displays on the console will flash once; the console will then be ready for use. The motor may be heard while the resistance system calibrates itself. Important: Always plug in the transformerwhen using the resistance system., press and hold the NEXT button and the MOTORIZED WEIGHT ADJUSTMENT + button for five seconds. When the buttons are released, a number will appear in the REPS display. Press the NEXT button again, then press the MOTORIZED WEIGHT ADJUSTMENT + button; this will start the recalibration process. This may take a few minutes as the motor moves between the lowest and highest resistance settings. When the motor finishes, unplug the transformer from the 120- volt outlet. The Console will be recalibrated. Use the resistance system as described in the CONSOLE
