If your car came with the Prestige Alarm unit, there is a possibility that the alarm box got deprogrammed or burned, and left the anti-theft activated. Use the Valet Switch to deactivate the alarm permanently, and see if the car starts. For some reason unknown to me, it takes a couple of cycles of crank/ take the ignition switch off, crank again for the Valet Switch to work. In my 98 Accord, this micro-switch is installed in the left front kicker panel, but there is no guarantee that it will be in the same place in you accord, since it is a dealer installed option

Hi my sky box stuck on standby and wont change to green

this can be a hard drive problem there are 2 fixes to try
1st switch off at the mains hold the back up button down and switch the mains back on whilst holding the button this will force a software update. may or may not work

switch off at mains press and hold left and right navigation buttons on the unit and switch power on hold for a few seconds and wait the circle of lights will run backwards while it re-formats the hard drive if this doesnt work you may need a new hard drive

Could someone help with the following: I am trying to replace the hard drive in a dimension 9150 and also add a second (storage) hard drive. sata drives I have connected 1 drive and installed XP from...

when installing XP to a blank HDD, that has no existing partition, If windows detects other drives (another HDD that has a partition, USB Thumbdrive, zip drive ot media card reader (I suspect your system has a 4 in one card reader) then XP install will see those drives and assign them drive letters and then assign the new partition created C: To avoid this, the simplest step is after creating the new partition on the new hdd in the XP install process, reboot the system and start the XP install again, this time it will see an existing partition on the new HDD and assign it drive letter C:
If you have already installed XP., I have found no SUCCESSFUL way to change the drive letter of the boot drive other than re-installing Windows.

1tb simpledrive will beep, click, but not work. No joy.

power source jack/plug might be the problem if it has been bumped about or if it was powered up and running before plugging in to the comp.....
i had the problem of my 1tb ext/hdd no longer being recognized because when i plugged it into my comp, the jack was live and not switched of at the wall. the only way i got it to work was to pull it out of the casing and switched it with the 320 ext/hdd i have as they are they same brand..just diff sizes. going to put the 320 into comp to become master drive as the internal is a measly 40g. i think i had burned out the connector pins on the power jack when it was plugged in live. i hope this is an idea for you to try.

Light comes on but the comp does not recognize drive

Accidents do happen but lets see if this information will help you out.

if it still under warranty then I would suggest take it to where you bought it and try get a replacement. You would loose data on it though !

IF its not under warranty then there are a few steps you can take to work out where the problem is.

Remove the drive from its enclosure (remember it is a hard drive and not just a lump of metal so treat it with respect)

Now insert that drive into a computer that has a suitable interface eg SATA or IDE. and switch that computer on. if you can see the drive and use it to copy a small file to then from the drive your drive is working fine and it was your enclosure that was at fault.

Buy a new one of the same interface and put the drive in there.

However if you could not use the drive... well you know the bad news.

External hard drives are just that. bangs knocks and drops can kill these devices pretty easily

You could get another drive and fit it in the enclosure but that does not help recover your files.

Data recovery is quite an expensive option unless it is mission critical for a business.

Installation of one touch mini 4

hello, if you are adding an extra hard drive for space make sure to change the teeny jumper to the proper pins next to the connection slots on the hard drive. the jumper makes your hard drive work as a slave (extra drive) or a master (main drive). if you have a main drive allready on your comp and you dont switch the jumper the slave position the computer will not recognize it becuase of the new hard drives jumper being in the master position or pin connector.
if your installing it as a 2nd master drive you need to use your extra hard drive slot on the mother board for this to work as a secound master then you need the jumper in the master pin slot. there is a small diagram on to the hard drive info label it looks like pins and it shows you where to locate or place the jumper for either master or slave.
for a slave drive once you have placed the jumper properly then you can instal it on the same cable with the main. look at the cable it will have a main and a slave small label printon the connector or if you prefer you can use the 2nd hard drive cable on the secound slot on the mother board turn on your comp if you are going for a extra hard drive the comp should recognize it if the jumper is properly placed. when your comp is running you can check by going into (computer) and it should be there as a new drive letter

after this you may need to format the drive for use. you right click on the hard drive letter and choose format drive

hope this helps good luck with your upgrade.
