Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

Paper will not feed from paper tray but will feed from bypass

Do the feed rollers need replacing if the maching has not been used for many years? Is this an economically feasable repair for a copier as old as this one? Can the feed rollers be replaced by a layman and can the parts be obtained?

We are again having problems with the copier not feeding any paper through the top loader. We have tried to clean the rollers without pulling it apart and it still will not feed the paper not even 1 sheet at a time. It keeps giving us the paper jam notice. We have looked in the manual and there are no other troubleshooting ideas for us to do for this section of the copier.

    Have any ideas?

Cannon pc 921 won't feed paper from tray or bypass, shows P for out of paper but tray is full I can't find any jam

Try cleaning the feed roller using ammonia solution. The sizing used in the manufacturing of paper has waxy substances that accumulate in the pores of the rubber rollers and reduce the friction on the feed roller..

Paper won't feed from the tray, the display shows P. Opening and closing the tray restores the machine. A single sheet of paper will feed from the bypass.

The pick up roller need to either need to be clean or replace. Because of the price to replace the pickup roller it might be worth more to just get another printer.

Paper jams when it leave the tray

This printer is new model so probably there is a problem with paper sensor at registration roller or next one paper sensor in fusing unit(it depends where the sheet stops). To be sure please first clean as you can the paper feed roller in tray and also check the manual feeding. If you can feed on bypass tray, then the paper sensors are OK. Look for problem in tray or rubber roller

Tray 4 paper feed won't feed my 80 gloss text anymore.

Having owned a copy center I can tell you most copiers will not take glossy stock. It's too slick. Worse yet - the (clay) coating on the glossy paper will transfer to the rollers and cause the pinch rollers to get slick then they will not be able to work properly on any paper.

You will need to first clean the rollers with a damp cloth or isopropyl alcohol. If you still want to use a glossy stock you'll need to use a special stock made for copiers. Go to a specialty paper store (or call JC Paper, Xpedex, etc.). You probably won't find this paper in a retail office supply store. Good luck.

Paper doesn't feed from inside on XD 100 work center (10 years old, lightly used). Despite a full paper drawer, I get the "out of paper" error message.  I can copy by feeding through the back.

On this machine, the feed rollers might be worn down.
Not seeing the machine and by the description. there can also be other possible problem areas, deep in the machine itself.
Does the paper feed partially out?
If it does not, are there paper black scuff marks where the rollers were trying to feed the paper.
Can you hear the solenoids feed the paper?
If the paper does feed and seems crooked, it is possible the paper tray springs need to be stretched out just a little to push the paper tray plate more on the feed rollers.
Make sure the tray is completely up in the latched position so the feed wheels will touch the paper stack itself.
If you have a two paper tray, make sure you tell the machine what size paper you have for each tray.
Run paper in each tray.
Good luck.

I have a SPC410DN Ricoh, it is having a problem feeding 110lb. paper in the upper bypass tray.it worked for years and now its giving me a fit!

is it not pulling or double feeding? most likely it is the rollers in the bypass. most mnfs it is the sep roller (bottom of 3) that gets worn causing multiple feeding. if it won't pull it is the FR (furthest back of the upper two rollers)

Clean photosensor or replace actuator on feed roller assy , try to use caned air to blow off sensor located above tray , if you reach in tray slot after removing tray you can feel a black actuator that swings. look there !

Paper jams

The feedrollers are most likely worn out. Maybe not smoothe but just tacky.
You can try removing the paper tray. Then take some cleaner, alcohol or some liquid soapy cleaner, fantstic, or soemting like that, and clean the rubber rollers. Clean them 2 or 3 times with a cloth dampned with the cleaner.
since the jams are in the tray, I am sure those rollers are either dirty or smoothe.
If you need more info let me know and I will send you my E-mail address so you can order and replace them on your own if you don't have a maintenance agreement with someone.
