Question about Avermedia AVerTV GO 007 Plus/FM Plus (MTVGOFMPS) Video Capture

1 Answer

AverMadia GO 007 TV card does not initialize with 2Gb of RAM

I have installed 2 x 1Gb DDR I 400MHz RAM instead of the old 512 (266MHz) set-up I had.
Now the TV card fails to initaliza on start-up.
Could it be related to the RAM upgrade? The enlarged address range? Speed? What else? Could it be that the TV card decided to croack right now?

    1. I was trying to avoid reinstalling the windows at the time. However it was long overdue so I did it anyway.

    2. I them replace the new 2Gb RAM with the old 512Mb. The problem disappeared. I will seek now RAM installation tips.

    3. Thanks anyway.

How to update SAA7130 TV Turner/FM

In order to update it you need to find the manufacturer's website.
Then look for driver and firmware updates.
Select the update that matches the version of Windows that you are using.
Download the update and follow the instructions to install it.

FYI: Your system is way to slow for this product to function properly. I wouldn't mess with a tuner without at least a 2.8 P4, 2GB RAM and a dedicated video card with 256MB RAM.

Good luck!

Can i upgrade my ram to ddr3 if so what would you recomend .cheers

Thank you for the clarification sir.
NO, the Fujitsu Scalio 600 Media Center uses the Gigabyte GA-8ISXT-FS motherboard, and it only supports DDR Sdram.

This is a PDF Motherboard Manual for the GA-8ISXT-FS mobo, from Fujitsu Support,

http://uk.ts.fujitsu.com/rl/servicesupport/techsupport/Boards/Motherboards/GigaByte/ga-8isxt/Man_8isxt-fs_uk.pdf

This is the support page for the Fujitsu Scalio 600 Media Center,
from Fujitsu Support,

http://uk.ts.fujitsu.com/rl/servicesupport/techsupport/consumer/MediaCenter/Scaleo%20600/Scaleo%20600.htm

Uses either DDR Sdram at 333MegaHertz, or 400MHz.
(PC2700 and PC3200 respectively)

DDR Sdram has 184 gold plated contact pins on the bottom.
DDR2 Sdram has 240 gold plated contact pins on the bottom.
DDR3 Sdram has the same amount of contact pins as DDR2.

The voltage and signal contact pins are in a different place, from DDR2 to DDR3.
This is why the locating notch on the bottom of the ram stick, is in a different place, comparing DDR2 to DDR3.

So you can see, DDR3 not fit in a DDR2 slot, because the locating lug in the bottom of the ram slot, and the locating notch in the bottom of the ram stick. Keeps people from trying to put DDR3 in a DDR2 slot, and vice-versa.

You can also see why a 240 pin ram stick, will not fit in a 184 pin ram slot.

Bumping up from DDR to DDR2 does make a difference in my book. (Requires using a motherboard that supports DDR2 however, so you would need a different motherboard)

Going from DDR2 to DDR3? Not so much IMHO. The frequency rate is higher, but there is a trade off with slower ram timings.

Sorry if I have been too 'Windy', but I thought I would give you more information, than just,
'No, won't work', or No won't work because your motherboard uses DDR Sdram'.

Ram cards ?

Yes, you will have to purchase the correct RAM modules.

Your 184 pin RAM is DDR. Here is a picture.

07eb2c5.jpg If you count the small copper contacts at the bottom on this side, there are 92. There are also 92 on the other side. (Total of 184) These are the "pins".

Go to www.crucial.com and run their scan program. It is safe. It will scan your system and then tell you how much RAM you have, how much your computer will hold, and what kind of RAM you need.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Remote control problem

re-install the software, after completely removing it, registry and all. chances are you may have updated your soundcard drivers, and the avermedia software failed to keep up. alternatively, try looking in your audio devices and multimedia settings. if you are using more than one sound device (you are if you run a tv card, essentially), make sure the audio device selected is the windows audio mapper. this will re-direct all inputs to your output device accordingly, and you will regain control. failing that, upgrade your tv card. they aint all that... :)
