I read one of your posts about the Technics SA-AX720 Receiver fan not working. I'm having a problem with it. It works fine when I'm listening to the Tuner, but when I switch it to any of the other inputs the fan shuts down and the receiver over heats. I replaced the fan and there is no change. Can you help me? E-mail me at [email protected]
Thanks in advance.
Kevin

The audio amplifier IC of your device are damaged you need to replace it.

It is unlikely that the display itself is faulty although it can happen. The typical problem is either the backlight is defective or the suply to the unit has a bad connection. If you can solder, try resoldering the pins on the display itself. The pins on the ends are the power and ground. I don't recall whether or not your model has a separate back light bulb or not. That too could be burned. Chack for that too.
Keep us posted,
Dan

You can download them, depending where you are, I have one!

The overload message appears when the the outputs for the speakers have a resistance less than the minimum accepted for this receiver: 6 ohms.
If you get this warning even without any speakers connected that means that one of the outputs is shorted. To fix it you need to open the receiver, find the shorted output, find out why it shorted and fix it - usually you must replace the power amplifier for the failed output.
The cost will depend entirely of the extent of the damage: if you're lucky it will be just some shorted wires - $150; if you're unlucky it's the main amplifier the one that failed - $350.
