The tumble dryer timer dial won't count down now the dryer won't start

Sounds like the timer is shot Stuart. An easy job to replace yourself as it is accessible if you take the top off the dryer after unplugging. Just take plenty of photos or notes of where the push on connectors go.Plenty of videos on how to do it on you tube-search "timer on tumble dryer". New replacements are ridiculously priced at £40 to over £100 but fortunately many people give up on repairing dryers due to cost of spares or call-out fees. For this reason there are plenty of people who make a good living on ebay stripping spares off such discarded dryers and you should get one for £20. Hope this helps .

E15 error code on hoover tumble dryer

Controls
  • The control unit on the tumble dryer will vary among different makes and models. The main purpose of the controls is to allow the user to select the drying cycle. You can choose the time and temperature setting on most units, while others allow custom settings such as moisture sensors and end-of-cycle alert signals. The controls may include a dial or a touch panel and LED screen display. Some tumble dryers allow you to independently select the appropriate time for the load you are drying and separate programs for temperature.
Motor
  • The motor inside the tumble dryer spins the basket to allow the clothes to tumble while being dried. The tumbling action allows the air to pass through the clothing to dry them faster. Heating laundry that is stagnant will likely dry the clothing on the outside while leaving damp clothing inside the pile. The constant motion, along with the heat and steam created by heating the clothing, reduces wrinkles. The motor also powers the fan that delivers the heated air to the basket of laundry. The heater can be an electrical element or gas powered.

Dryer will not stop running

Your machine may have a feature called wrinkle guard or wrinkle shield, which basically keeps tumbling the clothes without heat to prevent wrinkles from setting in. Turn that feature off and see if that does the trick.

Dryer turns on but won't heat up or tumble

Common faults -
1 The heating elements can fail (meaning open circuit)
2 There are cut-outs (T.O.C's) that might need resetting
3 The thermostats (stats) can trip out or burn out (meaning opencircuit)
4 Moderntumble dryers also have sensors and pcb's (Printed circuitboards) thesehave programs that can fail and circuitry although most should produce an errorcode showing you were the fault is.
5 Faultyconnections and burned wires may also be the fault.

Why no heat

Absolutely. A bad timer will not initiate the element function once the load has started. there is a point on the timer board where, the timer sends a heat signal to the element and it also controls the shutdown signals as well. the high limit thermostat controls the actual temp once the timer initiates the heat signal. if the timer is bad or malfunctioning, the element will malfunctioning as well.

Replacing the timer will fix this issue.
