Power is on but machine will not run

Power is getting to the machine and I can select programs but the door doesn't seem to lock when I close it. Had to slam it shut sometimes to get it to run but now it will not run at all. Is there any adjustment possible? There is a metal loop that seems to engage a plastic switch inside the door but the metal loop looks like it cannot be adjusted in any way. Any ideas? Thanks.

Thanks diyme for the feedback. I checked and the switch was in the correct position but it turns out that was where the problem lay. The rocked part was turning but there is a spring and microswitch and that wasn't moving. Hence the machine would not come on. Had to get a new switch mechanism for it.

Had a similar problem recently. The plastic switch you are mentioning has got stuck in the latched position. I had to open up the front door of the dishwasher to access this switch and disengage it. I don't think you can disengage it in another way.

Door is locked, cannot close the door or power on

Hello Stephanie Shcherban - Try resetting the unit by unplugging it for flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes. Restart unit and first confirm that the "child lock" option is not selected. However, if it proves to be ineffective and from what you have a described it sounds like the unit has a defective door lock switch, which will need replacing. Contact a professional to move forward accurately.

I have a Bosch SHU9955US/14 (Integra) dishwasher. There is currently a 0 with and asterisk showing on the display and the unit will not run.

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Thermal Fuse If the dishwasher won't start the thermal fuse might have blown. The thermal fuse helps to prevent damage to the dishwasher by turning off power so that it doesn't overheat. Once blown, the thermal fuse will have to be replaced for the dishwasher to work.

Door Switch The door switch, or switches, are sometimes called interlock switches. The door switch prevents the dishwasher from running while the door is open. If the dishwasher won't start, the switch or switches might be defective. To access the door switches, remove the control panel or inside door panel - depending on the model. They can be tested for continuity.

Main Control Board The main control board provides power to nearly every component of the dishwasher. If the dishwasher won't start the main control board might be defective. YOU should first check for more common parts. Many times control boards are replaced unnecessarily because the problem was not diagnosed properly.

Touchpad and Control Panel If the touchpad is defective, the control board might not get the signal for the selections made. If the dishwasher won't start and the display doesn't seem to change properly when the buttons are pressed, the touchpad might need to be replaced. On some models the touchpad and control panel are sold together and will need to be replaced at the same time.

Touchpad If the touchpad is defective, the control board might not get the signal for the selections made. If the dishwasher won't start and the display doesn't seem to change properly when the buttons are pressed, the touchpad might need to be replaced.

Timer The timer allows power to flow to the proper parts at the proper times. If the dishwasher won't start, the timer might be defective. Keep in mind that timers are often misdiagnosed as the cause of a problem. Check other components first before replacing the timer.

Dishwasher

It could be you opened the door before it had fully completed a program, and then turned it off. My Hotpoint machine has to be reset in these circumstances otherwise the next time it is turned on, it appears to let you select a different program but when you close the door resumes the program it was running when it was interrupted.

You don't say which model you have, so I cant give you a definitive answer, but you could try the following sequence which works on my Hotpoint:

1. Open door and switch machine on.2. Press and hold down the P button for several seconds until it gives a series of beeps (mine = 3 beeps).3. Release P button.4. Select the program you want in the usual way using the P button.5. Close door, and the machine should then run the selected program.
Hope this helps.

Machine started with door not shut

to release the door lock you have to pull the outer door and inner door away from each other at the top. if you have a wood panel, pull the handle of the wood panel away from the stainless steel inner door panel. you will notice the outer door panel will move out about a quarter inch. you will then hear the latch pop open. once you do that, close the door and select your cycle as usual.

My new bosch axxis washer was20160uc does not start

Open the dishwasher door if the desired cycle does not perform as selected on the control panel. Press the main power switch "Off" and then "On" again. Select a cycle, press the appropriate button, press "Start" and close the door. Make sure the door is closed completely.

Check the circuit breaker and water supply if the dishwasher does not start after selecting the appropriate cycle on the control panel and shutting the door.

Turn "Off" the dishwasher and disconnect the dishwasher from the power supply if an error code between "E01" and "E30" appears on the digital display. Reconnect and turn the dishwasher "On." This should reset the control panel.

Terminate a program on the control panel by holding the "A" button and pressing "Start" at the same time. The display will read "0:01". Close the door to start the program sequence. The display will read "0:00" when finished.

Dishwasher DU 1145 There is power to the unit and when you shut the door none of the lights show up on the panel and it will not run. Can this be a fuse problem?

not likely a fuse, but i would be looking at the door lock/switch mechanism. it the machine doesn't think the door is closing right it will not start or appear to have any power.

NOT TOTALLY SURE ABOUT THIS MODEL, BUT IS THERE A "LOCK" BUTTON ON THE PANEL? ON SOME MODELS YOU NEED TO PRESS IT TWICE TO ENGAGE START. HOW OLD IS THE UNIT? HAVE SEEN THE INTERNAL TIMER RELAY MALFUNCTION ALSO AND IT WILL NOT ALLOW DISHWASHER TO START CYCLES. HOPE THIS HELPS

I had the same problem with Zanussi ZDT 6252. To fix it, turn power on, close door fully, then open door, turn off then turn back on again. If you follow this sequence the machine is reset and you can select programs again.
