Question about GE Microwave Ovens

I recently went to another ge site with a question regarding a problem with a GE Microwave oven I purchased in August 2008. They wanted to charge me for service, this item is under warrenty, where do I go the get warrenty service?

If you purchased the appliance in August 2008, the appliance is definitely covered under the manufacturer's one year limited warranty that comes with most appliances. You can contact GE directly by calling their Warranty Management department. The information below is from their website, geappliances.com:

They should not charge you for a service that is covered under a warranty. Be prepared to provide your COMPLETE model number and serial number. Usually this information is located somewhere around the door opening, or on the back of the appliance. You should also have your receipt or purchase order. But...if you don't have it, the SERIAL number will indicate the MONTH and YEAR the appliance was manufactured. The manufacturer should still honor the warranty based on this information.

If you don't get satisfaction with this, you can try their Answer Center at 1-800-626-2005.

It sounds like the main transformer has failed. It would be cheaper to replace the whole microwave than repair this one. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I believe the magnetron just went out


Make a few phone calls and get the actual costs-then decide. You cant normally fix microwave ovens yourself though. Generally when the magnetron goes its time to buy a new micro unless its under warranty.

this is something you should probably call a repair technician for, due to the danger of the componentry.

Usually in ther case of this problem, even a technician will advise you to replace the unit, in the minds of cost effectiveness and safety...

I'd say you have a bad magnetron, but it will have a full one year warranty on parts and labor.
