I can not get my sigma 70-300 mm lens to focus in maunal or auto mode with my Canon-EOS either. I just sent mine in to the Sigma repair center. I do not have the cost to fix it yet.

Why does my lens only zoom to 200

Could be, because most camera's only can auto focus till f/1:5.6. And if 5.6 is reached at the focal length of 200 mm, the camera stops it from going to a part it can't be focused.
Perhaps you try the lens in manual focus, and manual zoom.

Sigma APO DG 70-300mm 1:4-5,6 sometimes does not af(Auto-Focus)on Canon Rebel XTi in macro, with extension tubes almost never.

I think you should use the manual focus for best results. the autofocus might not provide the best results at most times.

Will Sigma 75-300 f/4-5.6 DL work on my rebel XTi

If the lens has a Nikon mount (as you imply in the post), then no, it will not fit. If it has a Canon mount, then yes, it will work fine on your Canon Rebel.

I was given a sigma mirror-telephoto lens (600mm) It says right on it that it is for a Cannon. I have Cannon Rebel xt and cant figure out how to attach it. Does it work with a Rebel? And if so how? Do I...

You need a T-mount ($30) for a Canon on E-bay or a big camera store. There is NO connections to the camera body, so you have to turn off auto focus and go to "Auto" mode (the shutter speed will change) as the lens is fixed at F8. The mirrors give very little depth of field, 4 or 5 feet when far away but everything in back is a blur of circles. At F8 the shutter speed can go slow and at 600mm you may need a tripod.

Autofocus gives erratic results

Are you using this indoors, in low light perhaps? This would be the most common reason for this happening. The only way to get around that is to use a "faster" lens, such as f2.8 / f1.8 / f1.4 etc.

If not, try cleaning the lens and camea contacts with a plastic eraser, make sure no debris falls in the camera body (hold upside down for this).

Sigma 28-300 3.5-6.3 won't focus

Did it ever work on this camera?
I have seen some Sigma lenses that are auto focus on canon film cameras but then when put on the digital they dont work right. If you have used it on this camera then make sure the lens is clean.sometimes dirt on the front wil make it try focusing on the dirt. Next try focusing in manual focus to make sure the focus is working. Then take the lens off and then put it back on and make sure it clicks into place.

Let me know if none of those things work. also make sure to try focus on something close and somthing far away.

let me know how it works,
Caleb

Camera lens

Hey kgconstruct,
The lens description that your posting is categorized under is a 75-300 f/4-506 DL lens for Nikon AI. If this is correct then no this lens won't work on a Canon camera. I am assuming this isn't correct and the lens you have is for a Canon camera, and if this is true this lens should work on the XTI. If you’re thinking of buying this lens I would go to a local camera store that carries this Sigma lens and try it out first to make sure you like it. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

Trouble focusing with sigma 70-300 DL macro super lens

It will not focus on anything closer than 5 feet.

(From Sigma lens literature)
Capable of macro photography, this lens has a 1:2 maximum close-up magnification at the 300 mm focal length. It's the ideal high performance lens for portraits, sports photography, nature photography, and other types of photography that frequently use the telephoto range. It also has a switch for changeover to macro photography at focal lengths between 200mm and 300mm with a maximum close-up magnification from 1:2.9 to 1:2. The minimum focusing distance is 1.5m / 59 in. at all zoom settings.

Tamron lens for Xti?

if it is an auto focus lens that works on one eos camera, it should work on almost all of them. the only known exception is that some high end extenders will not fit the eos1dmarkII as it protrudes into the opening too far.
but a good rule is that if it fits without any obstruction issues, it should work. try cleaning contacts on the lens and camera body. if that doesn't fix it, talk to Tamron. you can use it manually, but will not be as easy and you would get less predictable results.

my suggestion is to always go with lens from camera maker.

sounds like there is an issue with the tamron lens. not the camera.
good luck
