Your tech in Finland (dell-net) was able to remotely figure out that I had the wrong paper settings and the wrong model selected. I am so happy, I posted FixYa's name to a professional listserve I am on. Dell-net was friendly and knowledgeable!

The problem may be that the laser lenses are dirty. This is a common problem with this printer.
You can try removing all the toner cartridges and wiping the glass lens that is behind the toner cartridge towards the back of the printer.
Unfortunately this does not work very often as dust has got internally into the laser assembly and dirtied the mirrors.
There are instructions on how to dismantle the printer to clean the laser on this site but it is not something that everyone should attempt. I have probably done about 60 and it takes me a bit over an hour to do.

Error : 52 scanner error turn off then on Printer model HP Laser Jet M1522nf

Turn the unit off for at least 30 seconds before power it back on.
If you have the unit on a surge protector ... remove it as these unit can create low voltage problems for laser printers.
If the problem persists ( and there's a 50-50 chance it will) my 20+ years experiance with HP printer says you need a new scanner assembly. HP Part# RM1-4724-005CN $90-$120 + installation

It may be better to replace the printer as a used one can be bought for about $250

My computer crashed and I had to re-install all of my software. My HP4 no longer prints on my desktop; it also does not print on my HP laptop. Both have Vista-64 bit OS. Other printers work, but not my...

since it was working before you reinstalled your crashed computer, then it should not be a serious problem.

  1. have installed the drivers for the printer on your computer(s)?
  2. Cross check wire connections
  3. Go to control panel from your computer, click on the printer icon as check if your printer has been installed?
If you see your Printer model, then it means it has been installed it so just right click on the printer icon and press set printer as default.

But if you don't find your printer model, then it means it has not been installed. In this case, you need the printer drivers.

Lastly, do some cross checking and on the printer connection.

Take care

Hp 4m shows service error 50

The service 50 error indicates a bad fuser assembly. You can get one on Ebay for less than $50. To replace the fuser just open the door on the back of the printer, inside you will see the fuser, unscrew the 2 screws and pull the old one out. Insert the new fuser and screw it down, power on the printer and you should be good to go.

I hope this helps, If so please rate our solution.

Blue light flashing light, red light on

The flashing means that the toner and/or the imaging drum is empty or missing (printing halts on these errors). Lights on steady means low toner.

It is probably because you cant use the internet and phone on the same line. Ask your internet provider to provide you a broadband line where you can both make/recieve calls and use the internet at same time.
If you are from India, I believe there is a company called Airtel that provides this service.

Hope that helps! Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.

P.S. - If you find that the solution/answer I provided led you to, or resulted in a fix, please close the ticket with a FixYa! rating. I would be very grateful for your show of appreciation.
If it hasn’t, please do not assign a rating just yet. Please post back as to what steps you took, results, etc, and I will try to assist you further as best I can. I am here at your service.

Thank you for using FIXYA!
