Question about JVC HX-C6 Shelf System

JVC HX-C6 goes directly into "Protect Mode".

Tried disconnecting the unit and then plugging it in again.
Tried disconnecting and re-connecting the speaker wires.
No Luck either time.

Power button reset method did not work for me, neither did the reset through the "rhythm ax" method. checked power supply and all is kosher, speaker connections haven't changed for a long time, used system before i left for work, came home to turn it on and have this happen. stumped...

I received a reply promptly from JVC to check power connections for shorts. O course I had already done that. So as a last resort, I pushed the power switch on and held it for maybe 10 seconds. It seems to have reset the unit, and it's playing fine. Best of luck, hope you all read this and it works for y'all. AJ

HOW TO RESET MY JVC HX-C6 FROM "PROTECT" MODE

Resolve the threat and it will stop protecting itself.

Sadly, the manual doesn't address it directly.

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as a root cause for intermittent shutdown.

Goes into protect mode and shuts off. Any

If the unit goes into into protection it usually means the amp is blown. It would need to go into a shop for service if the repari is not cost prohibitive

Protect comes up on my hx-c6

That is the common symptom of the defected STK-IC in power amp.section that busted already or just a loose connection.First try to resolder the pins of STK-IC and also all component parts joint in power amplifier section if its works! if not that is the time you replace it, so it works normal again.

Hope it may helps you...

My brother connected my HX-C6 shelf system to the pc and now it turns off and says PROTECT.

sounds like he may have run the wires from the computer speaker out plug instead of the line out plug. Check that by plugging headphones into the back of the computer where the cord is. If the sound is loud through the headphones, try plugging them into the other out plug. The correct plug will not have much volume at all through the headphones. Try this and let me know if it helps :)
