Rinse error We have a Jura Capresso S9 and it wont activate the rinse cycle when the display asks to. We unplug unit or power down and it goes to select product without going through the rinse cycle. Any ideas short of bad rinse button?

How do we take the top of the Capressa Jura E8 machine off. The machine appears to be clogged and the Capresso people think that air has gotten into the machine do to a filter that was not soaked prior to putting in. Any suggestions? Thanks Mary

I'm not exactly sure what was going on as I tried again to push the rinse button possibly a little harder this time and now it is working fine.

All Jura machines in the series C, E, F, J, S & Z models have the same problem. The Jura recommended maintenance is insufficient or erroneous:
1- When new machine is set up, the owners click OK for use of Filter cartridges. This helps only to display reminders for replacing the filter.
2- The instruction also advises, regular use of Filters, eliminates descaling the machine. That is not accurate. Reminders for descaling are delayed or eliminated. This allows accumulation of Calcium deposits in the entire hydraulic and coffee system.
3- Cleaning tables recommended & sold by Jura do not remove Calcium deposits in the coffee/water passages. The automatic descaling method recommended by Jura also leaves the coffee side of the machine unclean. The error message in your machine is due to Calcium deposits in the Brew group, coffee outlet & the faucet dispensing coffee in the cup. I suggest all Jura machine owners should manually descale machine. Manually descaling includes use of 6 to 10 rinse cycles with descaling solution in the water tank. The error message "Clean Machine" is accurate & pointing to descaling the Brew group, coffee outlet tube and coffee dispensing faucet by using rinse cycles.

After the rinse cycles are complete, refill Descaling solution & continue descaling the rest of the machine using hot water dispensing function, until the tank is empty. Finally, give a final flushing of machine to flush out remaining descaling solution inside the machine.

Tip

It is not always requried to do this. The brew unit sometimes gets stuck. All...

Malfunction 8 is related to the brew unit typically. It is usually an indication of the brew unit motor having to work too hard to move the brew unit up and down. The mechanism for dumping grounds becomes stuck from coffee grounds not properly waste out. This is usually cured by disassembling, cleaning all the coffee remains behind group, replacing any o'rings that may be bad, and lubricating the unit, then reassembly.

Also some coffee might be on the opt sensor that senses the up/down position of the brewing unit which when it's switched on the mechanism is not synchronizing and it will go all up or all down and show Malfunction 8.

Here is how to fix it without completely dismantle the machine:
Unplug, remove the water tank, pull out the bucket and tray, and allow to cool if necessary. Now - smaller fingers are better - reach into the machine, palm up. Feel as far back as you can, then work your way forward, toward yourself.

As you move toward you will feel a flat area about an inch wide (measuring front to back). Just back of this (away from yourself), you'll feel a crack about 3/8" to 1/2" wide. Push your fingers up into this area and feel around. You will probably feel stuff that feels like light, chunky rocks these are dry “coffee ground”. Break these up and they should fall out.
Again, small fingers are better and if yours are not once you got an idea of what you are doing, you can described it to someone with small ones and can do it. There is a tendency to not feel far enough back in the machine, so be sure to find the flat place at the lowest point of the mechanism then go just past it and up to find the crack.

Pulled out all compressed coffee “coffee grounds” you can fill. You can also get about a foot of plumber's tape (the metal stuff with holes in it that's useful for just about everything) bent it with a 4" radius, and worked it up into the crack to break up any stuff you couldn't reach. Work at this until no more stuff is in there. Now, tilt the machine toward you and "pat" firmly all over to jog anything left into the crack area, and check for chucks again. You can use a vacuum cleaner with slim tube so you can remove as much as possible with it also.

When that's done, put everything back together, move the machine to where you can work from the top. Don't start it up. Get a flashlight and the vacuum cleaner with the slim tube. Open the top "pre-ground" door and S**K everything out.
Now start up the machine, watch how the mechanism works, now, and try to brew some coffee. While it's actually squeezing out the coffee, tap some more on the "closed" mechanism to free up any more stuck coffee. Do this whole procedure 3-4 times to be sure, I suggest don't drink any of the first coffee it brews. Anyway, the machine should run good as new.

Good luck and please comment as to whether it works for you and vote for it.

Hi there, I just purchased a Jura S9 One Touch. I've used it for a week, maybe making 10 coffees/day. Just yesterday an ERROR 6 message popped up. I don't know what to do, please help?

Hi, Error 6. Haven't come accross that one before. It sounds like brew unit problem.I do know error 7&8 are brew unit problems and 1 to 5 are water flow and heating errors. Try turning off the machine at the main power button and unplug it from the wall for a few minutes. This will reset the machine and right it self. They can do this from time to time. Dazza

Jura c9 on out of box start up won't leave rinse cycle and enter heating mode. Checked rotary dial but it seems fine.

You need to be patient and keep pressing the rinse button. I took a few water tanks of rinsing before it clicked over to heating mode. The manual and DVD need to mention this!

I'm having difficulty pulling out the coffee grounds bin

Remove the heater plate on top. Then you can see the brewing unit. Switch the machine on. Press the rinse button when told by display. Watch the movements of the brewing unit and simply and cruely unplug when the movement is at top. Repeat if necessary. It may be that ground beans are aggregating and restricting the movements, in that case.....?

Mechanism sluggish and bogs down when finishing the rinse cycle

It can be that the grounds blade is loose, This will jam the brew unit when it`s finishing up. This is actually easy to fix, but you need an ovalbit to loosen the screws behind the watertank. Then you have to reatatch the groundsblade to the brew unit. But i recomend you to contact the local servicedepartement for Jura machines. They can help you with this in five minutes.

Machine says malfunction and won't froth milk

If you have a rotarywheel; Press and hold to enter the menu, turn to Maintenance, select Decalcify unit; empty tray as requested, fill up 600ml water in a container. Disolve 3 Descaling tablets in the water, and then fill it in the watertank. Press Maintenance button and you`re off.

If you don`t have a Rotary; Turn off the machine and let it cool down for a while, then push the Rinse/Maintenance button for a few seconds; then you will get the message Empty tray. Fill the solution in the watertank and press button.

It`s important that you use the right amount of water, or else the process will "never" finish.
