Canon Powershot A495 Wont power on using the ON/OFF button
Hi,
After taking some pictures, my canon PowerShot A495 was down to its last battery bar, I wanted to see the pictures I took, so I pressed the play button (the lens was out), suddenly the lens went in and the camera switched off by itself.
I recharged the batteries, and when I started the camera again, it redirects me directly to the photo view mod (when i was before the camera shut down) without the lens going out, and in order to take a photo again, I have to press the shutter button once and the lens goes out normally.
BTW the camera doesn't stat using the ON/OFF button, it just turns on when i close the batteries door.
Re: Canon Powershot A495 Wont power on using the ON/OFF...
Try this: remove the batteries and memory card....press every button...leave it alone for 20 minutes...insert the battery and then the card....turn it on.

iIt seems that the battery is low or not powerful enough to run the camera properly. when the camera notices there is not enough power it will automatically shut down. ensure the battery is fully charged up on the charger and then try it. the battery type is Canon NB-3L and if the camera is a few years old or has been stored for a long time the battery may need to be replaced.
if all these have been done and still the problem persists i would recommend a dealer have a look at the camera.
to replace battery open slider plate on bottom of camera and flip tab to release the battery pack.
Hi Sadia Exactly what kind of drivers are you looking for? All the software etc. that you normally need is bundled on a CD when you buy the camera. Failing that, you can go to www.powershot.com where there is a vast library of downloadable drivers and software available. Hope this helps
Alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pictures in today's power hungry digital cameras. Some batteries may also have reached their shelf life at the store, and though brand-new right out of the package may even have problems just powering startup of the camera. The one's that came with your camera are just to show you that the camera works, but as you've discovered, they'll only last for a few pictures. Digital cameras that use AA's for the most part should only be used with modern rechargeable batteries. If you read the camera's instruction manual concerning batteries, you should see the same recommendation. Modern rechargeable batteries have over 5 times the power density of alkaline batteries (that's right, they last up to 5 times longer than an alkaline battery. And you can recharge them over and over!). Keep in mind rechargeable batteries will save you much money in the long run over alkalines, AND they'll last for at least 100 pictures per charge (and probably many many more). You'll be very pleased with their performance, and may be angry with yourself for not buying them sooner. When at the store, look on the package for a power rating of at least 2500 mah.
my canon powershot a495 has a problem. it always shows low battery and turns off. i have changed to new batteries three times but the same problem. i bought 3 months ago
all the canon cameras batteries do not last more than 2 years. the best would be to purchase a new battery which you can find at any Target, OfficeMax of a sort department stores.
Are you still using alkaline batteries? If so, alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pictures in a digital camera. Some may also have reached their shelf life, and though right out of the package may even have problems just powering startup of the camera. Digital cameras that use AA's for the most part should only be used with rechargeable NiMH batteries. If you read the camera's instruction manual concerning batteries, you may see the same recommendation.

Did this for the same problem on the PowerShot A570 IS and it worked wonderfully (thanks to other poster): For the PowerShot A 430: Take out the batteries, then hold down the power button for 30 seconds or more, then reinstall the batteries. Problem solved!
