Dell 780

This is not a GPO issue. The problem is that all Windows will attempt to set the new resolution and a fail-safe is that if you do not click the Keep Changes button after thirty seconds it switches back to the old settings. This ensures that if you set the resolution to a range the monitor or display adapter can't handle that you don't get 'stuck' with a blank screen.
Check that the display adapter in the Dell 780 can handle a resolution of 1280x1024 and that the monitor can also handle this resolution.

Hi raejeshq

CONNECTING LAPTOP TO INCOMPATIBLE PROJECTOR

You don't say which Operating System you use, so my answer will be presented in general, Windows terms. If yours is a non-Windows Operating System, consider applying the logic and principles involved here to your own Operating System and, if in doubt, please feel free to add a Comment or Clarification to this Question, including information about your Operating System.

The graphics chip in your laptop can operate within a defined range of resolutions and refresh rates. As long as the resolutions and refresh rates required by this projector lie within the range your graphics chip is capable of achieving, you should be able to adjust the settings so that this projector will function with your laptop.

With the cable connected to the notebook and the projector:

Right click on open space on your desktop > Properties (Personalize) > (Display) Settings > Advanced Settings > Monitor > untick "Hide Modes that Monitor cannot display" > select 50Hz > Apply > OK > right click on desktop > Properties (Personalize) > (Display) Settings > click and hold on the slide controller and test various resolutions until you find a satisfactory resolution for the projector > Apply > Yes > OK

I hope this helps.

  • Starts minimized (add shortcut to StartUp to start with windows)
  • Sits silently in the tray
  • Define 2 to 9 shortcuts for different resolutions
  • Switch resolution with just a keypress!
  • As of version 0.0.2.7 the HotKeys can be customized
  • Resolutions below 640×400 and frequencies above 120 Hertz are excluded. If you need them, download the source and compile HRC yourself.

What is the combination of keys (shortcut) to change the screen resolution (not orientation).

There is no Fn-Fx key combination to change screen resolution (at leat on my R10 running Windows XP. Even if you create a shortcut to open the graphics properties you still have to open the relevant tab manually to change resolutions.
You can open the Intel Extreme Graphics 2 for mobile icon on the tray, go to the graphic properties change the resolution and save as a scheme. With a customized scheme defined you will be able to click the Intel Graphic properties and select that scheme. But be careful, your tablet pen will no longer be calibrated with the available screen area.
I tried on my R10 (native resolution 1024x768) and all I could select was 800x600@ 60Hz.

FPD1960 TFT LCD Monitor that turns on and you see the Windows Screen, and then goes black. Each time I turn it off and then back on, it repeats this pattern. All cables are securely fastened, I am using...

Windows is using a video mode the LCD monitor can't display. The cable doesn't matter in this case. It's an issue of the refresh rate and the resolution set in the system.

When the system boots, hit F8 just before the Windows splash screen would come up. Start the computer in safe mode with networking support. It should be able to come up in safe mode because the resolution will go to 640x480 or 800x600 by default.

Once you get to the desktop, go under the desktop properties. Hit Advanced. then go under the monitor tab. Make sure the monitor is defined. If it says generic display it will give you resolutions and refresh rates you can't use. If it isn't defined, you can install the driver under properties.

Finally, set the default resolution to something easy like 800x600 and try the refresh around 60-65hrz.

I have a toshiba satellite series laptop and the cd/dvd drive is missing in my computer.Have been on the phone with toshiba and has been back to toshiba to fix. What ever they would do over the phone and...

Try starting the unit in safe mode and see if the CD/DVD drive is their.
Make sure you don't have another device conflecting with the drive.
If the drive is seen under safe mode, you have a program conflect. Which means, the driver for the CD/DVD drive is being bumpted by another device or loading driver.
Try it and get back to me with a answer.

What are high resolution and standard resolution?

All pictures have 24-bit pixel depth, or 16 million colors at 144 dots per inch. The high resolution setting produces a standard size photo, 4.44" x 3.33" at 640 x 480 pixels. A wallet size photo of 2.22" x 1.67" at 320 x 240 pixels is produced using the standard resolution setting. Example: A picture with dimensions of 4.44" x 3.33" at a pixel count of 640 x 480 will have the same dpi as the same picture at a 320 x 240 pixel count with dimensions of 2.22" x 1.67" (dpi=144 x 144 or 20736 pixels per square inch). The larger picture will have a much higher resolution due to the fact that four times the pixels will define the same section of the picture in the larger photograph.
