You put this in the PC Desktop category. If it's a desktop, then you just plug it in. If it's a laptop, then you'll need to turn the laptop over and remove the screws that correspond to the keyboard. Look for ones that are in relatively the same place as the four corners of the keyboard and such. Once removed, flip the laptop over and gently pull/unsnap the keyboard. Do this carefully as you will need to see where the keyboard plugs into the motherboard. Next, simply plug the new keyboard in and reverse the steps. It's really an easy process once you start doing it. Good luck!!

The keyboard should have a USB plug or a PS/2 plug that should plug right into the back of your computer

How to hookup a microsoft keyboard to a hewlett packard desktop

You simply connect the receiver to one of the available USB ports. Ensure that there are fresh batteries installed in the keyboard. Once the receiver powers up, the OS in the PC should recognize and install it. The receiver may start up with a scanning sequence where the three lights blink in sequence. This means that the receiver is searching for the wireless device. On the back of the keyboard is a small recessed button. Press this button and the receiver should find the keyboard and stop the scan.

Gateway wireless keyboard detection

Insert the installation CD that came with your wireless keyboard set into your computer's CD-ROM drive.

Use the CD to install the drivers for the wireless peripherals.

Insert batteries into the keyboard .

Use a screwdriver to remove any screws that hold the battery bay covers closed.

Connect the wireless signal receiver to your computer.

Receivers for wireless keyboard and mouse sets usually use a USB connector.

Your computer will automatically detect the receiver.

Turn on your keyboard if the devices have power buttons.

Press the "Sync," "Connect" or "Pair" buttons on the keyboard , depending on your model.

If present, press the "Connect" button on the wireless signal receiver as well.

Your wireless keyboard set is now connected.

hope this helps

The factory installed drivers and applications can be re-installed by using Gateway eRecovery

Click Start, and then All Programs
Click Gateway, and then Gateway eRecovery Management
You may be prompted to enter or create a password. This password will be required to use eRecovery in the future.
In the next window on the left toolbar, select Restore.
Choose Reinstall Drivers or Applications
Choose Contents
Choose the driver or application you wish to install
On the right, click the Install link and follow the prompts.
The computer should restart when installation is completed. If it doesn't restart, manually shutdown and restart the computer by pressing and holding the power button until it powers off. And then start it as you normally do.

Don't forget to rate this if it helped fix your problem.

I received the replacement keyboard for my Gateway laptop computer without the "easy to read instructions". I was hoping that these instructions for removal of the defective keyboard and...

Hi
The best I could find was the product page for the keyboard. Otherwise you'll need to either contact the people who you bought it off or use a general guide for replacing keyboard such as this one. It does have laptop - specific instructions for some Gateway laptops - hopefully you'll hit lucky!

You could try searching specifically for "(your laptop make & model number) keyboard replacement guide" if the above link does not work. Google usually has the answers! Alternatively if you provide me with the model number I could have a look around for you.

Hope this helps and good luck!
