Philips DVDR615/69 1. The DVD recorder plays pre recorded DVDs from market quite well 2. It plays DVD+RWs recorded in ths recorder prior to one month quite well 3. Problem started one month before and when I insert a new DVD+RW it starts recording and even plays back in the first instance well. After some time Disc error message is displayed. 4. If I take the same DVD and play it in windows media player in my laptop playback is fine, which means recording is done but in a different fomat? 5. Why does this happen? How to solve the problem. 6. No sound from pre-recorded dvds in tv/dvd combo

Check the sound setup to TV. Refer its user manual for details. Check whether the audio format to the recorded disc do match with to that of TVs.

What kind of blank DVDs do I use to copy an old VHS video tape to the DVD? I have the Sony RDR-VX530. When I put a DVD in, I get an Error message saying that I have the wrong DVD.

According to page 30 of the operation manual, the following information may help;

DISCS THAT CAN BE USED IN THIS RECORDER:

4x-speed or slower DVD+RWs
2x-speed or slower DVD-RWs (version 1.1, 1.1 with CPRM) (Content Protection for Recordable Media)
4x-speed or slower DVD-RWs (version 1.2, 1.2 with CPRM)
16x-speed or slower DVD+Rs
16x-speed or slower DVD-Rs (version 2.0, 2.0 with CPRM, version 2.1, 2.1 with CPRM)
2.4x-speed DVD+R DL (dual layer) discs
(when using DVD+R DL discs, see the instructions supplied with them prior to use)
4x-speed or slower DVD-R DL (dual layer) discs

DISCS THAT CANNOT BE RECORDED ON:

DVD-RWs (version 1.0)
DVD+RWs that are not 2.4x-speed compatible
8 cm discs (mini-DVDs)
DVD-RAM (any speed/any version)
DVD-R DL (dual layer) discs in VR mode

A free pdf copy of the manual for this model can be downloaded online.

Hopefully that provides some insight to your question.

Tried dubbing VHS to DVDs, worked okay. But I cannot get the DVDs to play on my laptop. I used DVD-RWs. What kind of DVD do I have to use?

It depends on the specifications of the DVD drive in the laptop. Go to the website for you laptop manufacturer and look up the specifications. You also have to have DVD playing software. It is was not always included with the Windows operating system, although some kind of player may have been packaged with your computer when sold. DVD-RWs are recorded at slower speeds, which makes bigger dots and make not work with all DVD playback drives.

I have a dvdr3380 lately when i put in disc it says disc unrecord

Test the created DVD with TMPGEnc v4.0 Xpress here is the free trial link It has a read source function that will fail if the DVDR has not been authored correctly.

If this works and scans in the full DVDR then I suggested that you buy a branded DVD+R like Philips who created the format, if this still fails I think you DVDR 3380 will need a service.

LOL

How to hook up a dvd recorder with HTS6500/37?

Suddenly had this problem. My Phillips is hooked up to TV and to Cable Box. When I inserted a DVD it would return a "no disc" but it would read and play CDs. After a call to Phillips...who said that they had no idea what was going on and I should take it in for service...it was 4 months out of warranty. Repair company said it was not worth the repair costs ($200) so I should try cleaning the lens with a lens cleaning disc. I bought a Maxell. It has a set of little brushes on the bottom of the disc. I inserted it and played track 2 for 20 seconds as instructed and voila! It began reading the DVDs again. I was only out the $10 for the disc cleaner. If you have this problem, try the disc cleaner first as it might be the fix.

I've purchased a philips dvd videoplayer, dvp3350v/05, with the aim of being able to copy from video to dvd...having read the manual though, it reads like the only copying it will do is from dvd to...

The DVP3350V/05 is a DVD player / Video recorder combi, so will only play DVDs, not record on to them.

You will need a Philips DVDR3510V or DVDR3512V, to record from VHS to DVD.

www.cheapestelectrical.co.uk should have them in stock, if not contact them for availability.

Also, most pre-recorded VHS tapes are copy protected, so you may experience picture rolling and colour fading in & out on any copies you make.
Any VHS tapes you have recorded yourself will not have this copy protection, and will copy ok.

Not reading pre-recorded dvd's and ocassionally not re-wrtten dvds

Over recent months my recorder has stopped reading pre-recorded disc's and more requently re-writer disc's. I had thought that the region had some how been altered, but not too sure now. Is there a way of checking? Or is there a problem with the laser block. I have stripped the machine down and thoroughly cleaned (but no dust found) and no loose parts. I have reset to manufacture default but this hasn't helped.

DVD-RW discs I have recorded sometimes say 'disc error' sometimes 'no disc' sometimes start ok but cycles round and round for 5 - 10 mins before stopping, sometimes goes straight into play at last position, won't stop back in menu just goes straight to stndby. Factory reset dosn't help. Wont play pre-recorded discs without going into menu and messing around. It seems to damage or not record RW discs properly a lot of the time. Not even sure if it's resetting to factory settings properly.
