Hello

If this camera is a Minolta Dimage X20, then the problem is probably a faulty CCD, this may be repaired free of charge, I suggest you contact a Sony service center as they have taken over support for Minolta cameras.

Hi I have a minolta dimage A1, which has been working fine, but when I know turn it on, the screen, same through the view finder, just flickers, with no image shown, then white bars flicker on and off on...

Hi Anthony

Sounds like your Minolta A1 has a faulty CCD sensor, this is a common problem and you should be able to get it fixed free of charge.

You need to find your local Minolta repair agent, you may have to look for a Sony agent as Sony bought the photographic division of Minolta and are responsible for the continuing support for this product range.

This link will give you some information about the situation

Please note this fault is not specific to Minolta just about every camera maker has had this problem over the past few years

Minolta dimage 7i powers up all functions but lcd and viewfinder are blank

You both are in luck. This sounds like a defective Sony CCD issue. Sony will fix your Minolta camera for free (with free shipping) regardless of warranty. You need to do this before March 31, 2008 so get going! See this link:

The Dimage models that Sony is accepting for the recall repair are:
Dimage 7HI, 7I, A1, Xi, F300, XT, X20, S414.

Konica Minolta DiMAGE E500

I disagree it is a CCD problem. Turn the camera on and observe the diaphram in the lens to see if it opens. If it opens you should see the CCD under a strong light. If not then the problem is with the shutter that allows live view. This model and also Minolta E500 and Vivitar all use the same chassis and all have this shutter problem. I still haven't figured out how to fix it though.

How many images can the DiMAGE A2 capture using a 256MB memory card ?

In general, storage capacity depends on which image size and quality you have selected. For your information, here is the number of images recordable in a 256MB Compact Flash in the respective image size and quality. Since the image size may vary depending on scenes and subjects, these are approximate values only. Image size 3264x2448 / 3264x2176 / 2560x1920 / 2080x1560 /1600x1200 / 640x480 Std: 106 / 118 / 167 / 243 / 381 / 1043 FINE: 61 / 69 / 99 / 146 / 235 / 781 X.FIN: 31 / 35 / 50 / 75 / 124 / 594 TIFF: 10 / 11 / 17 / 25 / 43 / 245 RAW and JPEG: 15 / 16 / 17 / 18 / 19 / 20 RAW: 21 Movie : Image size 544x408 / 320x240 Movie(15fps) : 7 min. 9 sec / 13 min. 44 sec Movie(30fps) : 4 min. 15 sec / 7 min. 3 sec

Does the DiMAGE 7 camera comply with PIM (Print Image Matching)?

Yes, the DiMAGE 7 is PIM-enabled. The camera records necessary information as it stores every image captured, and passes printing option information to a PIM-enabled printer to create optimum results. The PIM-enabled printers process the image automatically for excellent print quality.

After upgrading the DiMAGE 7 to the Optional Enhancement software, when AF is confirmed on the DiMAGE 7 the live image on the LCD stops, is this a problem?

This is not a problem. In order to achieve faster AF operation, the live image on the LCD is not refreshed during focusing. During flex focus point, the live image on LCD never stops. If you feel anxious about the live image stoping, we recommend you to use flex focus point.
