Continuous flashing red light

Yesterday my set was working fine, except for the green tint that seems to have taken over anything that should be black in the picture, and now it will not turn on at all. I push the power button, it flashes a green light (next to power button), then after a couple of noisy glowing flashes emitting from the right rear (as you face the tv screen), there is a continuous flashing red light where the flashing green light use to be. the screen does not come on at all and there is absolutely no sound. The set was purchased new from best buy about 2 1/2 years ago. Any clues?

You need to contact a local repair and have them change your Optical Block, don't worry, Sony will replace it free of charge as it is an issue with this set.

Any further questions on this can be easily answered by Googling Optical Block and your model number.

Contrast really dark but seems to improve after the tv has been on several hours

Hi:
You may have a problem with the inverters in the unit, they are responsible for lighting up the back panel. Check or have checked the power supply voltage to the inverters, should be around 18-24 volts DC. Also leaky capacitors on the power supply will cause this issue as well as leaky or puffy capacitors on the inverter.

No picture, siren type noise as restarting

My Toshiba dlp 62hm116 was used for 3 months then stored for 2 years, I turned it on yesterday and it makes a loud grinding noise which I think is probably from the exhaust fan area and the picture is black except white at both vertical sides. It worked fine the last time I used it 2 years ago. Any ideas?

Our Sony Grand Wega suddenly has a green-yellow tint.

IF IT IS HOOKED UP WITH COMPONENT CABLES (GREEN, RED, AND BLUE) FOR PICTURE AND RED AND WHITE FOR AUDIO, MOST LIKELY THE RED ONE IS NOT SEATED PROPERLY, CHECK BOTH ENDS THE ONE CONNECTED TO THE TV AND THE ONE CONNECTED TO WHATEVER THE SOURCE IS ( SATELLITE BOX, CABLE BOX ETC.

Greenish screen

sometimes speaker magnets or any metallic device can cause this disturbance in this type of monitor. also, if you are using dvi, i would reset all video driver settings to default. this may correct this green tint you are seeing as well. reinstalling the monitor software could have a positive affect.

Sony FWD-42PV1 -

I diagnosed the same problem on my FWD-42pv1 as a problem on the Y-SUS board. The fuse on that board was blown, and the board itself was bad (replacing the fuse was not enough to fix it). The symptoms were exactly the same - the LED cycling red/green, and then finally stuck at red.

With a new Y-SUS board, the TV has been working fine for a couple months.

use the advanced options page and reset the factor blue and red convergence defaults then do re apply the auto color defaults color at first it seemed very red (which is good because red was the missing factor in the green picture) but after reseting all the color and tints to the normal ranges I then reset the color auto correct again and all seems fine.
