Hi there,

replace the hose. they break or kink for various reasons. also when you replace it, check to make sure that the water pressure is set correctly.

How do i change the power steering hose on a 2009 journey

I have a 2010 dodge journey sxt. the return line on the power steering system is defective in material and design. Chrysler has not modified the design or the rubber composition. I have had the return line rubber ends blow off in the cold, dealer just used aftermarket clamps put on and all was well until this winter when the metal line meets the rubber hose. the hose is the weak link. they are easily replaced. they are about 6 inches long and there are two of them on one end and one on the other by the reservoir. easy quick job.. use 400psi hose with compression barb fittings. don't let the tech's at Chrysler or other tear it out it's about a 2 1/2 job. they will cut the solid line to get it out. it's the most expensive line and is easily altered, the factory ones are garbage and will fail as soon as it gets cold. the return line is not pressurized. there are other lines that are rubber but don't seem to fail. the high pressure line from the pump to the rack snakes from the pump under the plastic shield over the tranny to the rack. this will be obvious if it failed. all fluid will be around the front of the engine. look it up online and you will see how numerous the problem is. dealer techs are resorting to altering the hose material as the factory hoses will split in cold weather. the fluid is atf+4 and some say it will eat rubber portion of the lines. there is too much back pressure in the return line he oil can't get to the reservoir fast enough which causes the too much pressure and this splits the rubber portion of the line. the lines are too new and will only be a dealer part, alter the one you have.

hopes this helps as I feel your pain. 3+years of ownership... journey's are a nightmare of defects, cheap parts and bad engineering....

Water not coming out from coffe spout instead going on the back of the any falt masages

You most porobably have a failed hose coupling in the machine, most liely the pressure relief valve located on the output line from the pump. These hard plastic parts often crack due to the severe vibration and heat in the machines. Check all the hose couplings and make sure none of them have cracked or the silicon hoses fallen off. There is a slight chance that a hose may have ruptured, and an even slighter chance that the boiler may have a hairline crack, but both of these latter possibilities are highly unlikely

It appears that a oil line ( rubber hose) that is apparently under pressure ruptured. Oil is all over the engine, with a significant spill on the ground under the front end, yet when I checked the oil...

What about the transmission lines, or the power steering hoses, I don't think much is going to stick to it, for about $35 you can get it towed

Ruptured Power Steering Fluid Hose

Since it "ruptured", I'm betting it's the high pressure side of the power steering. Pull the old one off, bring it into someone that will make one for you, replace, add fluid and done. Last time I had one made, I took it to Napa, the one where I live can make them for you on the spot. Maybe 15 minutes and it's cheap.

A/c not blowing cool air all of a sudden. Then smoke from the engine not alot but I think it's from the a/c it's self. Let me know if anyone experience this type of problem?

If a/c pressures go too high, it will blow open the safety valve. This is usualy due to the cooling fan not working. Did engine get hot too. Temp gauge go high?

You will need to add freon. A/c service port is behind right fender liner. remove liner for access. Do not overfill. Get R134A can with gauge on it.

please rate.

The top radiator hose blew apart. after replacing and filling radiator back up engine runs ruff and guage is hot. radiator water is cold. What is wrong?

First place I'd look is at the thermostat. However, if the hose did not rupture in a normal manner and blew apart, I'd also suspect that you may have a blown head gasket. In that case, compression is entering the cooling system which is not designed to handle such high pressures, therefore causing the hose to explode). This will also result in rough running you observed.
