How does answering questions on FixYa actually work?

Is there a way to gain knowledge in how to sort questions into categories so that I can find questions I know the answers to? And also information on how much and how you get paid for solutions?

SOURCE: In Fixya , There huge products and also Questions

Hi wkojiro, welcome to FixYa. Questions on FixYa are usually categorized under the specific model of product that they are about. However, should that product not be on our site, the asker can make it "generic" for the category. When an Expert responds to that generic question, he can add a specific model categorization (if the asker overlooked it and it's actually on the site). If you have any other questions, you can always email Fixya Support Team at: [email protected] or use our contact page: http://www.fixya.com/contact

SOURCE: How are answered ranked? I see that some answers

Hi fixyamaster,The solutions that receive the most Thumbs Up are usually at the top. However, since the asker's vote is weighted proportionally higher in the displayed rating, a question that has actually received many Thumbs Ups from other users will have a lower displayed rating if the asker gave it a low vote. See this Tip of mine for more details on our rating system: How FixYa's Ratings Work Please feel free to contact our Support Team directly at: http://www.fixya.com/contact

I notice all of these posts are over 10 years old, does anyone look for new posts?

What! Look at the Leader Board on the lower right hand side of the screen. We get between 1 and 3 points for answering a question and those points were reset at 2:00 am on Monday morning.

If you are seeing old questions in the list of 'New' questions it is because someone added spam to them and one of the admins removed the spam. That brings it back up on the new questions list. There are always too many questions to answer every day, and I am here 6 to 10 hours a day, 7 days a week. We are all unpaid volunteers. Also, if a question is answered, it is removed from the list of active questions and is sort of archived. If you are seeing a list of old unanswered questions, that is why they are still in the category list.

You posted to the Category 'Computers; Larry Ng is our computer expert and he is here most days. This is his posting history

Has fixya ever posted an answer on email to a problem asked

No Fixya Experts never use email and we edit out any questions that include email addresses. This is for your security because Fixya has 11 million question views a year and some are bound to be weird or scammers. Everything is answered on the page like this one, somewhat belatedly :>)

If try to upgrate matric results an uou failthe subject that you before

Hello, Nneheng -

Clarification: You are asking about a matriculation examination.

If my guess is correct, then . . .

1. Your question landed in the Fixya.com category for Office Equipment and Supplies -- nothing to do with any sort of education examination.

2. Fixya.com is a website intended for asking and answering questions on how to go about REPAIRING THINGS.

3. I have no idea where (what country) you reside, so I cannot even direct you to a reliable source of information. I am answering from the USA. Fixya receives questions from people worldwide.

4. It is a challenge to figure out what you mean in the rest of your question - something about failing a subject examination?

Therefore, I suggest you seek out an administrator or teacher at your current or former secondary school (wherever that is) and ask your questions about the matriculation examination.

Best wishes.

I mean compatible sorry

Hello, Abubakr -

It appears that you think you questions are all part of one thread. They are not. You can go back to the question you posted where you mis-typed "compatible", click or tap on Edit, and enter the correct spelling.

This is the link to the question you posted with "xonpatible":

Plus, I see you posted the same question about the Winx Club PC game more than once, a few minutes apart from each other. Please understand that someone who may be knowledgeable about what you ask is not just waiting around to see your question and answer it immediately. Fixya.com is not like TV commercials where an "operator is standing by." You will need to wait until someone who can assist you sees your question. Plus, since you have been asking about a computer game, you may have a better chance at an answer if you re-categorize it to the Fixya.com category of Game.

These are the links to all your earlier questions about the Winx Club game:

http://www.fixya.com/support/t26975956-got_tablet_powered_android_got_pc

http://www.fixya.com/support/t26975958-download_winx_club_pc_android

http://www.fixya.com/support/t26975961-could_give_website_name_downloads_winx

http://www.fixya.com/support/t26975962-possible_could_send_me_link_downloads

You could choose to return to those questions, delete them, and post 1 new, clearly stated question, and make sure it is categorized in the Fixya Game category. You then may have a better chance of someone who is knowledgeable seeing your question and answering it.

If you have not already tried searching for an Android version of the game, you could use your favorite search engine (Google, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, etc.) and enter the following search phrase, using quotation marks as shown:
"Winx Club" Android

Best wishes.

Why does FixYa hijack search results?

When you ask, search or find questions-answers on fixya, often you are given 'recommended' answers if no expert has directly answered question before.
Same with searches.
When google-searching a product, and fixya appears as first-page result on google, then that often means there are no other resources available on internet ... and fixya might have posted that product without any resources to offer ... possibly hoping that new expert will join and offer explanation.
But then you can post question on fixya, and expert might have found resources ... or maybe not... for example, really old products, discontinued products, may not have any information available. Other times, companies rename a product so they appear to offer a unique item with intention of making comparison shopping more difficult... that's why a clear description of product and problem are important when asking a question.
When asking question on fixya, best results when full information is given, including age of product, name and brand and model of product, photo or video of product, full detailed explanation of problem, and what has been tried so far to resolve problem.... this information can quickly tell expert what the issue is, and how to best resolve problem ... if possible. Obviously, some things can't be fixed, and nobody is expert in everything.
For example, just asking for a manual without giving product description will often lead to unanswered or incorrectly answered question.
It's also possible that fixya truncates the question so expert cannot see whole question. At least one person reported that his/her question was chopped off, and so expert was trying to answer different question than person wanted.
The experts here provide genuine service to folks ... and we know this from periodic feedback arriving from people who asked questions.
You could join and become welcome expert also. Especially if you have knowledge and resources on copiers, printers, TVs, automobile repair, appliance repair, websites, etc etc. The actual categories offered are extensive.

Im trying to ask this question but your service won't allow it. Winchester, guns or shotguns are not an option so I'm trying this. I have a winchester model 12 standard 12 gauge 2 3/4" 28" barrell serial...

Hi lje70. FixYa actually does not have a dedicated firearms category, which is why you were unable to find an appropriate category to post. As your question is currently filed under "FixYa" it won't be shown to the best Experts.

I recommend posting your question again. Make sure that you do not click "Get Immediate Assistance". On the page where you enter your question details/product, click the link that says you can't find your product. Then, choose "Camera, Camcorders, & Accessories" in the first column, and either "Rangefinders" or "Spotting Scopes" in the second column. These are the only firearm-related categories on our site, and will give you the best chances of meeting up with an Expert that can answer your question.

Thanks for using FixYa!

In Fixya , There huge products and also Questions and answers. I really wonder that these questions and answers correspond appropriately??For example there are many Chain Saws . I wan to know each chain...
