Question about Maytag MER6772 Gemini Electric Kitchen Range
First time I used the self cleaning option on the oven. Started with the lower unit. Noticed the glass started to look like honeycomb on the inside. When the oven was cool enough to open, I saw how badly it was cracked. Do I need a new oven or new glass? The stove is 4 1/2 years old.
this is called thermal breakage. basically, when the mfg. makes the glass, they either don't cook it long enough or let it harden long enough during manufacturing. remember, the glass is supposed to withstand over 1200 degrees, which is temperature during self cleaning. have a technician replace the door glass, as warranty should cover this.

Hello ewaters56 - Honestly, I suggest contacting a professional to have the inner glass panel replaced and I do not recommend for the oven to be used.
