What is the maximum memory on a Gateway MX8734 laptop?

Hi Anon
the Gateway MX8734 motherboard has two memory slots each capable of handling a maximum of 2gb of ram.
So, 2gb is the largest single ram module, and 4gb is the largest total amount of ram.
If you are uncertain if your motherboard is capable of handling a 4gb ram upgrade then check with the memory suppliers first.
In practice I have always found that the performance difference between 2gb and 4gb of ram is slight.

How to restore factory setting on gateway model mt6705

Step 1:
Restoring your Windows 7 Gateway computer to its original factory settings is a great way to get rid of pesky viruses you can't seem to remove from your computer, or simply to remove old programs and files from your computer and start with a clean slate. Your Windows 7 Gateway computer will likely run faster as a result of deleting old and unnecessary files. It's also a good idea to restore your Windows 7 Gateway computer to its original factory settings if you plan on selling it, or passing it along to a family member or friend.

Recover From Windows 7 Home Screen Click the "Start" icon in the lower-left corner of your Windows 7 home screen. Click "All Programs" in the Start menu, then click "Gateway". Click "Gateway Recovery Management" to open the Gateway Recovery Management program. Click the "Restore" header, then click "Restore System To Factory Default". Click "Yes" in the "Confirm Restoration" dialog box, then click "Yes". Click "OK" in the dialog box warning you that all of the personal data on your computer will be deleted. Your computer will automatically restart. When your computer restarts the restoration process will begin. The process could take anywhere between 30 and 90 minutes. Click "OK" when a dialog appears telling you that the computer has been restored to its original factory settings and that you need to reboot your Gateway Windows 7 computer. Your computer will reboot. After the computer restarts you will need to configure Windows 7 with your personal preferences. b> Recover at Startup Turn on or restart your computer and hold down "Alt" while clicking "F10" during startup until you are redirected to the Gateway Recovery Management program. Click "Restore System From Factory Default". Click "Next" to begin the restoration process. The process could take anywhere between 30 and 90 minutes.

hi willsim , are you mean you have open your gateway laptop to see your motherboard?
you don't want to take off keyboard and all, just turn your laptop in back side you will find sticker and about brand r product name remove it so that u can screw to open your lap top ,in some laptop u can see no of screw visibly, remove it so that u can see *********** board , but its hardly recommended to not open your laptop by yourself , cause if you remove the stickers mean your warranty may be lost. if any more assistance feel free to ask

My gateway mx8734 powers on but won't boot, no bios screen, beep, nothing?

In that case the BIOS is corrupted and the only ones that can fix that are the repair shop of the dealer. If you have to send it to them then it's not worth it, just buy a new one, it will be cheaper.

I have the same problem with mine no power

I have an MX8734 and it died on me. I have 3 batteries and 2 power adapters but there is a bigger problem at work here!

These computers (almost all gateways) have a big power supply plug (connected to motherboard) defect. They are a $6 part but the moboards are $400!

You can send it to a computer repair shop but beware,,, as some don't know how to fix plug and will tell you its the motherboard. Because its a defect it can happen again after repair. Gateway doesn not repair units anymore as acer bought them and a 3rd party is doing warranties (or not doing them from what I hear).

If I was you I would: A) Have a shop that can fix plug do it.
B) Put it on Ebay for parts (worth about $200),
C) Have a real expensive (but satisfying) target at the ol range.
