Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

I am using PDF Page organiser. I have 174 pages. To ensure that the pages are in the correct order, is there another way of moving pages without clicking onto the up or down buttons. eg. I would like to move page 174 to page 26. At present i am using the up button arrow with my mouse. this takes quite sometime.

You might have already tried using the page up/page down buttons on your keyboard, but if not you could try using those. That is how I usually scroll through my PDF files.

I need a manual for power sw, hdd sw ,led sw HP dc7600 Mother Board pn 380356-001 380356

I suggest you go to the INTEL Support website. You should go to this page. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx
On that page figure out what Motherboard you have. Use that number to locate the page for that board. Then click on that board.
First you should look for the word 'Documentation" Clicking on that should get you to the Manual for your board. Once you get
that page up look for any reference to the manual for that board.
Download the manual for that board. Most of those manuals are
in .PDF files so you will need to have a pdf reader installed on a
machine you can use. Open the manual in the pdf reader and look for instuctions explaining how and where the cables are laid out on the Board. This set of connections is usually called a "Front Panel".

NOTE: These plugs are often shown with + and - signs. You may have to try turning the plugs 180 degrees once of twice
in order to get them working right. The plugs are usually labeled
as follows. PS = Power Switch, HD LED= Hard drive LED lamp.
RESET = Momentary Contact Reset Switch. (Do not use unless
necessary). and Pwr LED = Lamp that lights up telling you the machine is powerd up and ready to go. I strongly suggest that
you do not "guess" at which pins are which. Look them up. That
manual will explain everything you will need to know. Look at the pictures. that will help you understand the layout. Best Wishes.

Boot order change to boot from cd on thinkcentre m57p

I beg to differ........

AS SOON AS you press the Power On button, start tapping on the F12 key. Tap in 2 second intervals.
If you hear beeps ignore them. They are Stuck Key Error Code beeps, and it is you that is doing it.

In the Startup Menu do you see CDROM listed?

You cannot use your mouse anymore. You have to use the Keyboard.
Use the appropriate arrow key, and highlight -> Start
Press the Enter key.

Now use the appropriate arrow key, and highlight -> Start Sequence
Press the Enter key.

What does it state on the Right side?
The right side, and the bottom is the Navigation guide. Does NOT state navigation guide.

If you see the various boot devices listed in an order, you need to highlight the first boot device;
Or,
You need to highlight CDROM.

Using the appropriate key to Change Value (Look at navigation guide at bottom), move CDROM to the Top of the list.

Key is usually the Page Up/Page Down key; or +/- key.
(Plus { + } / Minus { - } key)

If you can only highlight the first boot device in the list currently, highlight it; then use the appropriate Change Value key, to move it in the list.
Move it until CDROM appears at the Top of the list.

(Note* You may have to highlight the first boot device, then press the Enter key; then use the Change Value key )

If you can highlight CDROM, then just use the appropriate key, and move it to the Top.
(You may have to highlight CDROM, then press the Enter key. Then use the Change Value key)

After you have moved CDROM to the Top of the list, press the Enter key.
Now select Save Settings, or Save and Exit.

I'm looking at the HMM (Hardware Maintenance Manual), but it does not go into very much detail for BIOS Setup.

I'll need your eyes. Tell me what you see, and what is going on; if the above is not correct.

Post back in a Comment.

Check to see which bios version your computer is using. An update is probably necessary in order for the computer to detect the drive correctly.

If that doesn't work most hard drive manufacturers have software that you can install so that the bios will detect the drive correctly.

What's the make and model of the new drive?

Delete Norton. Its terrible and slows your machine down. Go to Start>Control Panel>Add/remove programs. And uninstall it.
Use AVG Antivirus instead, its free and much better.
