I am troubleshooting a JVC that seems to have no green gun. When there is a picture which should have green in it, it appears blue. Could you give me some suggestions on common solutions to this problem.
yes this does happen on all inputs. It does appear this is the only symptom.yes this does happen on all inputs. It does appear this is the only symptom.

If the model is the same as the category (LT32X667) then there is a logic problem as there are no "guns" in this set. Can you verify the model number please? Also, is the shading the only symptom? Does this happen on all inputs?

It is one of two things the picture tube is bad and the green emission is very low or the green gun is open, the second possibility is the video driver or output is shorted on the video board "plugged in the back of the picture tube"
It is not video circuits on main controller or convergence.
This TV uses a CRS system with three CRT tube lamps, red, green and blue.
The problem is likely one or more of the CRT individual high voltage PSUs failing intermittently, if problem is associated to vibration, then it is a cold solder joint , otherwise it is a faulty component.
The unit has lost its green video information. This can be a picture tube or a green drive problem. The only colors you are getting are red and blue thus the purple picture. All picture tubes have red, green and blue guns to make all the colors needed for a normal picture. It will take some troubleshooting to determine whether it is a drive problem or the picture tube itself. Have a repair shop check it out for you. A 36" TV is worth a check out fee. Thanks for using Fixya. Let me know how it goes.
you have what they call guns in the back of the tv blue/green and red and sounds like they have came out of adjustment. as far as the picture being black and white you should get a tv technician to check it
The projection TV has 3 guns RED GREEN BLUE. In your case the red and the blue guns are gone. So you are getting the green color screen. You got to replace the picture tube.
The problem with the set is that the blue gun has gone weak, and not emitting at par with red and green guns in your picture tube. Turn of the blue screen and get the grainy display on the screen (detach the cable) and enter into service mode to fine tune until you get a perfect or black and white grain pattern.
Your convergence amps are bad. Replacement is necessary and I would recommend contacting a servicer in your area. You can find an authorized JVC serivcer at this link http://maps.jvc.com/cAscList/
