Question about Sega Genesis Console

Short somewhere in sega genesis...

Ok, for the past 10 years or so i've had a short in genesis and I can only play the system if the power cord is pushed to the left and kept that way (usually by letting the system lean on something). I know its not the AC adaptor because i've tried it on my friend's consoles and and it works just fine. I just took the entire system apart but the two tiny blue wires on the bottom seem to be fine and dont need saudering. Where's the problem??
Thanks for any info!

it seems that the metal connecting the power supply to one of the blue wires has torn through the solder on the bottom of the mother board breaking the connection, its almost imposable to see but when i push the box, the two things come together and it works. :) I can fix this.
    thanks anyway,

Just try and heat the solder connections that the power jack up and see if that fixes it. you could see that mine was loose but maybe yours is not to that point yet.

I recently aquired a model 2 sega genesis. i have an av cable and a power cord with the same plug. it turns on but it wont play any video. can anyone help?

Without specifics its hard to say what the precise problem is so ill give you a list
ok the power adapter for mine which i've had since it was released has an input of 120v as 50hz 15w and an output of 10v DC 0.85 A if its not outputting that that may be the cause so get a new cord
Make Sure you plugged in everything correctly and power spike is on if using one (better safe then sorry)
Its HIGHLY possible that who ever sold it to use ripped you off and you have a broken Genesis

Wont come on

Man I haven't seen an actual Sega Genesis console in years. Anyways...
1) Make sure that everything is plugged into your system properly. 2) Check you make sure your TV is on the right channel 3) Check to make sure the fan is at least powering up when you turn on the Genesis. If it is then the Genesis is working. 4) Plug something else into the TV to make sure it works.
Remember, HDTVs and LCDs and this whole Al Gore's Gone Green thing wasn't around when they made the Sega Genesis, so conventional means to playing a Sega aren't your best option. Don't plug it into the wall either, make sure you are plugging it into a surge protector.
Hope this helps.

Help connecting a Sega Genesis 16bit system!

What you will need to do with the RF cable is to take your incoming cable thast goes to your TV and screw it into one side of the RF box. Then the adjacent short cable wire that is on the other side needs to be screwed into your TV. The long end of the cord plugs into the back of the sgea unit. Good luck! Any other questions, feel free to ask.

Need step by step directions to hook up a 16 bit Sega Genesis

There should be two plugs on the back of the sega. One for the power cord, and one for the audio/video cord. The audio/video cord is a coax cord with a little box in line. Hook your cable or antenna cable into the jack on the box and hook the end of the cable from the sega into your tv. There will be a switch on the sega or on the box somewhere that designates channel three or four, this is what channel your tv will need to be on to use the sega.

How do i set up my sega genesis

There should be regular av cables and wall adapter for it. Mine came with the wrong cords and that might of happened to you. So if you don't know the av cables go in the back of the tv and plug's in the back of the sega. and the wall adapter goes in the wall. If you don't have the cords than get them off line. Type in:

http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=sega+genesis+cords&tag=googhydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=2858659671&ref=pd_sl_8zrz6m8bxu_b

cut and paste it online and you can get them.

We plug in all the cords to the SEGA GENESIS 16-BIT but it still won't start up. We havent used it four like 12 to 13 years it is like one of the very first models from the 1991

Ok, this is not exactly a solution but more a suggestion. Have you tried taking the system apart and looking at the board? If it has not been used in 13 years then it is highly likely that it is covered in dust and might have an electrical short (dust conducts electricity). To clean the inside of the genesis just open it up and use a can of compressed air and/or rubbing alcohol with a q-tip (dont use water). What nateSegaHead said is also true. The dust build-up can cause the power supply to overhead and just die.
