Question about Computers & Internet

I have a Philips portable HDD storage device. The model is no longer on the official site (SPD5200CC/96K). No laptops are able to detect it anymore and i haven't used it in a while. I need to transfer all the files out.

Try to see if there's a way for you to open the enclosure..where the 2.5 inch hard drive is contained. and get an adapter for the interface so you can use the ide interface (instead of the usb interface) and plugged it into a desktop ide cable and possibly be able to access the hard drive..

one thing you need to keep in mind is that if you happent to be trying to open the enclusure (assuming that what you have is in fact a niceh little enclusure) you may end up opening the platter casing of the your hard drive which will damage the hard drive for good.. so make sure you get inside but not much to see the platter... again.. I'm assuming your device is in fact an enclusure for your 2.5 hard drive.

keep in mind that if you get the hard drive out and it still does not get detected after you plugged into a a regular desktop ide cable... you hard drive is the one that may have been damaged all along... and time and money may have been wasted...

good luck

I have a dell inspiron 531 desktop. i have tried everything from changing floppy to disabled, to changing the drives. im still getting a no "boot device available" screen. someone PLEASE help me. what else...

1. Enter to BIOS (use F2) on start up, see if your Hard Disk Drive is listed, if not, check cables connections to your HDD from your motherboard.
2. Check boot order in BIOS make sure your HDD is number 2 and that your Optical Drive (DVD ROM) is 1st, so your can use your Windows install disk to Repair your Windows installed on your HDD.
3. The Master Boot Record (Google it) might be corrupt, see Google info how to fix.
4. If you have a flash drive plugged into your PC, this can cause it not to start up. Remove and restart PC.

Hope this helps.

NB: Use backup program (to save your files to another storage device i.e. External Portable HDD) either Windows Back Up and Restore or a third party software.

Emachines et1331 card reader driver

You should download the driver again for them and just run it into computer ..The driver it is available on the support site of the manufacturer..
choose teh correct model and the right operation system so that it iwll work proper..
To be sure that the driver it is all you need..just take a look in the device manager ..if the card reader appear under devices but either unrecognized or in yellow with a exclamation sign on it means the devices are working ..but just end the driver ..if you changed the operation system need the drivers for it to match .
by the way ...if you installed windows 7 on 64 ..the drivers should be for 64 system too ..
here are the drivers for this model
download and install the chip-set drivers ..In there should be teh driver for the-card reader too ..
do not be alarmed if the drives are not displayed may be the case that it will display just the one used and when you use them ..Just install the driver s and after that take a look into the device manager and see if they are present there.. to do so click right on computer ..and choose properties and in there select device manager ..If they seam not to be present click right on storage devices..and select scan for hardware changes ..and will add them without driver if they are detected..If no detection is displayed it means the reader is not functional anymore or it cables are disconnected or damaged ..and this is the reason for refusing to load simply do not see any device in the system ..
In this case get another card reader or use an external one ..

I have an old laptop HDD that i am going to connect to my desktop computer via a laptop IDE hard drive adapter ive recently bought. My laptop HDD is bigger than my internal HDD on my desktop. Can i use my...

I am pretty sure you can do that. You just need a conversion cable for the internal IDE cable which is in your computer. So, if i were you, i would just go to the nearest Computer hardware shop and ask them about the cable you need. I know you can also boot from a USB device. Just remember that this will slow down your computer if you boot from a USB device.

If you find the cable you need, just remember that you need to set the jumpers on the back of each HDD, laptop drive primary and computer drive secondary.

Best regards.

Computer will restart check for hdd or boot device. If hdd is detected it should boot to desktop. If issue persist .Shut down the system.disconnect power cable.Hold power button for 10 secs.Open the tower and disconnect the hdd from the sata or ide cable.Connect hdd in a different sata or ide connector.Connect power cable and turn on the computer and follow steps 1.If still getting same error possible hdd gone bad.Good Luck.

Need a Hard Drive and cable for the jensen NVX3008PC ,where could i find parts

As it has USB port, please buy a USB portable Harddisk, You can add High capacity memory cards too.

You can do these if you wish to expand the storage of the device.

I am actually not sure..if you are asking about the internal HDD to change .

Adding more store

This is a link to the sony online official site with links to customer support. If you just want more storage capacity you might consider an external usb harddrive because if you want a bigger internal hardrive you will have to reload your os and any other software you have.

Phillips 1TB HDD problem, playing movies hrough DVD player (USB)

My question would be are the movies in the right format. Just because they play on your computer does not mean they will play on you DVD.NTFS or FAT 32 would have no bearing on this. They are simply data per sector protocols and are related to magnetic storage devices. You may need the proper codec for you computer so it can make a DVD you player can play.

Master hard disk s,m,a.r.t.status bad, backup and replace

A failure message from the SMART system of this nature indicates that a catastrophic hard drive failure could be imminent. Without delay, back up ANY data you want to keep. This error isn't going to go away, and is being reported by the drive controller.

Whilever you can access the drive, move any data you want onto another media (such as DVD or external USB hard drive) because chances are it's not going to work much longer. You need to look at buying a new hard drive as soon as you possibly can, and migrating the data to it.

Files and Settings Transfer Wizard will be able to backup your data to another media.
