Question about Hitachi Televison & Video

Projection TV built in 1989 model CT4521k Serial #w91001124

The TV keeps switching channels. No matter what channel you are on it switches back to channel 2. It appears that something is heating up in back of the TV. We have taken the back off the TV and recently put a bowl back by the tuner with a couple of frozen bottles of water. With the back off and the coolness of the water it seems to slow the switching of the channels. These bottles are sealed and the water cannot come out. We would like to solve this problem permanently.

Another band-aid cure would be a small fan. But it sounds like you need a repairman to replace a component or module that is overheating.

SOURCE: TV remote control sensor

yeah,it's very easy.

pull out the bottom part(where the speakers are) - they are held with plastic hooks on the inside, they are =on the left and right side and a few at the top. just pull one end and the rest will come off easily.

remove a couple of screws holding the buttons assembly and the bottom of the screen.

slide the screen carefully upwards and when you reach about half way then it will come off.

behold...the sensor is infront of you, it's a small pcb with a light sensor on it. (if you see sensors at the very top or side...they are probably focus sensors)

sure it's not the remote?

SOURCE: TV keeps changing channels by itself

Either the channel up or down buttons on the tv are most likely stuck.

Why all my cables channels not working

if you are using coax cable to conn cable box to tv, be sure to use the analog ant conn on back of tv, and there is a switch on the back of the tv for selecting channel 3 or 4, for cable box use. be sure to turn tv to the same channel the switch is selected to, and always use the cable box to change channels/ programs, not the tv channel selector.

Change the aspect ratio

you can set the aspect on either remote. the best thing to do is set the proper aspect on the tv remote for regular (sd) channels, and then again for hd channels. the tv should remember these aspect settings and revert to them when you switch back and forth from sd to hd. if you have satelite, there is usually another aspect on there you can change depending on the program, but i usually recommend leaving it alone. if you are on an hd channel with side bars, switch to the sd version instead of changing aspect so you dont have to keep flipping it back and forth.

Philips projection TV keeps changing channels and switching off

Remove all batteries from any remotes in the room. Unplug the tv. Wait several minutes and power it back up. Use the controls on the unit to turn on etc. If the unit still changes channels you probably have a tact switch on the control board which is sticking or shorted out. Unless you have dealt with this before you will need a tech to fix it but the good news is it should not cost very much. Let me know how you make out.

Converter box

put your tv on channel 3 , and make sure the back of the "converter boxes switch" is set to channel 3 not 4 if using the coaxial antenna connection to the tv
if using the video and audio jacks then the switch on the box will not matter

Split screen

Yes I get the same problem with my Sony XBR and its Pace PVR.
The problem seems related to using HDMI interconnects; viewing the PVR through component leads allows the TV to switch modes easily, otherwise I have to turn the tv off and then back on again.
