Question about Bosch 24 in. SHU43 Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Leaks, doesnt drain properly and cloudy film on glasses

Ok, have had our Bosch for 3 years exactely. Model# SHU43C06UC /17. a month and a half ago it started leaking perfusly and has ruined the floor(pergo) another mistake. , then shortly later about 4 weeks of that it just quit running altogather. I can hear the moter but nothing else, no water no movement etc. Of course we dont use it now but prior to this it ran like a quiet mouse and cleaned beautifully. I have ALWAYS rinsed everything clear prior to washing in the dishwasher so why would this happen? There is nothing caught in the filters or the piping as far as I could tell(my husband has checked). I am sorely disapointed with such an expensive piece and frankly expected higher quality. I am the only one who loads and operates this appliance.

Hi gwmkjm,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your question is: YOUR BOSCH DISHWASHER MODEL #SHU43C06UC/17 WILL NOT START. NONE OF THE LIGHTS TURN ON AS IF THERE IS NO POWER GETTING TO IT. YOU HAVE CHECKED THE POWER CORD AND THE BREAKER BOX AND EVERYTHING IS O.K., BUT YOU STILL CAN NOT GET IT TO TURN ON. AT ONE TIME THE LED LIGHT LIT UP FOR A BRIEF SECOND, BUT NEVER AGAIN. ANY OTHER SUGGESTION?

Yes. 9 times out of 10 it's a loose or broken wire in the d/w junction box under the d/w behind the kick plate on the right. Make sure to turn off the electric before you expose the wirenuts. Remove them and install new.

Bosch SHZ46B does not seem to heat water properly - only to 120F. Glasses and dishes are left with whitish film.

If you have hard water, glasses can look spotted and cloudy even after cleaning. Sometimes changing the dishwasher detergent can help. The easiest solution to clearing up glasses that start to look cloudy is to add some vinegar to the bottom of the dishwasher before you start a cycle. Simply add 1 cup of white vinegar and it will clear up your glasses very well.
You should see marked improvement after the first time you do this. If they are not crystal clear then simply repeat the process until all of the cloudiness is gone. In fact I recommend to using a little vinegar in each cycle to maintain the clarity of the glass.

Note: you can pre-test this by rubbing some vinegar on an individual glass with a cloth. If you cannot remove the cloudiness by soaking it and rubbing vinegar on it then it is possible that the glass is etched due to harsh or cheap dishwasher detergent and vinegar will not solve the problem.

they must have changed the way they treat the water in your area. those spots are caused by hard water. www.dishwasherfilter.com has a product out for this problem. it filters the water going into your dishwasher leaving them spot free and crystal clear with every load. you will love the way your dishes look.
