Re: xbox 360 console..
Windows media center is a little complicatd to use. The biggest problem with it is you have to have your movies rated. If you want a fast and simple way to connect the two is use a program called tversity. http://www.tversity.com/
It is free and extremely easy to use. Once you install it, you will need to show it which folders to share. Then go to your xbox dashboard and go to My xbox, the scroll right to video library. Once there you should see tversity on (your computer name)
Choose this option and you will then be able to play all your media on your xbox including all your songs and movies.

You don't need any special software, just the internet. If you have a router or modem just hook a regular ethernet from the modem/router to the back of the XBOX. Then you will have to set up an XBOX Live account. You can see instructions here After that, you should be able to play your games against other people online.
XBox Live comes in 3months and 1 year. The gold version is 19.99USD(3month), and 49.99USD(1 year). This allows you to play online with others and, if you have a good connection, it can be incredibly enjoyable.
Features: Aside from playing online, you can watch trailers and download demo's, purchase games for your XBox through microsoft points, as well as movies and downloadable content for the games you already play.
Hi, firstly is your xbox still under warranty if so i suggets you send it back to microsoft via going on to xbox, com. on xbox.com you will be able to get help on fixing it firstly, like things to try before sending it off
if its not under warranty send me a message back and il help you further
Most likely there is not a codec available. If your Xbox is connected to the internet it will download the codecs if it can when you try to play the file. If not you can do what I did and download TVersity at www.tversity.com. This will stream movies from your computer to your laptop if they are on the same network, I use it to watch movies I have on my computer on my tv via my xbox. Anything your computer can play your xbox can play.
if your using a modem its possible that it doesnt have a Ethernet port....Check the back of your modem and you should see a port that says ethernet near it. Plug your ethernet cable to the port in the back of the modem where it says ethernet. With the other end you plug it into the back of your Xbox 360 (its located in back to the far left....it looks like a phone line jack). You should then have xbox live
Both consoles have advantages.
The Xbox 360 has a vast array of titles and has the biggest fan base of the two. If you connect the console to the internet, you can download games and movies through Xbox Live. You can also connect your PC to your Xbox 360 and use the console as a multimedia center using Windows Media Center.
The PS3 has a blu ray drive as standard, so you can watch blu ray movies through your PS3. DVD's are also upscaled up to 720p to improve the look of your movies. The PS3's online service is free, and allows you to download game demo's and downloadable content for games.
The Xbox 360's disadvantages are the fact you need to pay for access to Xbox Live, roughly £40 per year, but it does guarentee a reliable online service. Also earlier and cheaper models of the Xbox do not support full HD via HDMI.
The PS3 is very expensive and lacks quality titles. The console is also on a 10 year plan, so even though the console will outlast its rivals, it is likely to become outdated.
If you want to watch blu ray films and play games occasionally, go for the PS3. If you want a console with a lot of titles and a reliable online service, get the 360. Of the two I'd choose the 360, but in 2 years or so I might need to reconsider.
