Re: sony bravia 46"
It sounds like either the remote is bad, or this TV may have a "showroom" setting to keep people from messing with th TV while it is on display. I would download the manual to see if it mentions a showroom setting, if not, try a new remote

You would need to do a factory reset
From the Sony Forums:
factory reset to your Television.
Turn on the TV.
Wait approximately 40 seconds for the TV to completely start up.
On the TV remote control, press and hold the UP ARROW button.
While holding the UP ARROW button, with your other hand reach around the side of the TV and press and release the POWER button on the TV set.( not the power button on the remote) it should be the top button along the side panel.
Press the Power button on the remote control once, when the set it powered up. It will power OFF. If you want to power down totally, just switch off the main power at its panel. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
I have a sony bravia kdl 40v 5100 for less than two years and i did not purchased an extended warranty and now my tv is down.
I have no picture, no sound just a black screen when i turn the power on, the power (green) light is lite up and the tv turns off by itself for like less than 30 seconds. I have tried to press as many buttons on the remote control and on the side of the TV to get any message but nothing seem to happen. Any suggestions and solutions? Thanks
To reset your TV to factory settings do the folloing
Turn on the TV while holding down the "Up Arrow" button on the remote control, press the "POWER" button on the TV. [The tv will turn itsef OFF, then back ON again]. Release the "Up Arrow" button. Warning: The reset will clear all of your customised settings including parential lock settings.
If you are looking to have the Dish remote operate your TV, just do a random search for your tv. First, hold down the tv button on the dish remote until all the rest of the light up. Next press the tvpower button on the dish remote. Next, press the channel up button (this is the up arrow button) until the set turns off. When it does turn off, press the # key at the bottom right of the remote. The tv button will light and flash twice. That's it. Your done. Hope this helps.
