hi there.im not familiar wih the model, but your fault lies in the east west correction circuit.excessive width usually means a short circuit e/w modulator diode, with the curved sides.normally,a narrow picture with curved sides points do dry jointed/open circuit polyester capacitor.if a firm slap has an effect, then its most likely a dry joint which makes for an easy life.the vast majority of east west correction circuits are based in tle line output stage, and generally not complex to fix.hope this helps,regads,steve.ps. look for s/c by 299 and by 228 diodes, check those..
The curved picture indicates failing parts in the pin amp section and probably some faulty parts in the scan amplifier sections. The set is being turned off by the uPC because there is a fault indicated, and it is going in to protect mode.
This mis probably a cold solder connection in the horizontal circuitry called the pincussion. Theres a couple of coils and resistors that overheat from time to time and the solder connections get loose. Not really for a handiman has this tv has hi vboltage inside even when turned off. Shouldnt cost an arm ans a leg to fix if the repair shop knows what they Are doing. Good Luck
