Xbox360 disks wont reed

I'll need some more information to truly help you,
Is the disc spinning when you put it in (can you hear it trying to read)
What does the xbox dashboard say when a disc is inserted? Are there any error codes or "no disc inserted" message?
Try another game disc if you can. Sometimes discs get scratched or dirty, in which case you can clean it or have it professionally cleaned.
If that doesn't work, Try cleaning your laser lens
There are several places that will clean your laser lens, or if you're a little more technologically inclined, You can open your system yourself and clean the lens with some alcohol and a q-tip.
If none of the above works, you may need to have your xbox professionally repaired.

Ok i put in my video game that i just bought and it says "open tray" and now it does it to EVERY game, CDs will work but DVD wont so basically my xbox is just a CD player what can I do to fix it?

This is a very well-known problem.
If you still have your warranty, I would recommend getting it sent back and repaired for free while you still can.
Although, if you don't have your warranty, here are a few options.
1.) Keep putting the disc back in and out. Eventually, it will work. I have the same issue with my Xbox on occasions. It just takes patience.
2.) If this doesn't work try changing the position of your Xbox. For instance, if your Xbox is laying horizontally try standing it up vertically. If your Xbox is standing up vertically, try laying it down horizontally.
3.) This option is ONLY suggested if both option 1 and 2 aren't working. A known, and accurate, solution to fixing this problem is taking a blunt object, I use my phone, controller, iPod, or screwdriver, and constantly hitting the corner closest to the disc tray of your Xbox right after you insert the disc. Don't be afraid to really hit it, but don't hit it hard enough to crack the exterior of your Xbox. How this solution works is unknown to me, but it definitely works.
4.) If none of the options above seem suitable, send your Xbox in to Microsoft and have them fix it. Although, they will charge you a fee.
Hope this helps.

Sounds like more of a problem with the game not the console. I would try other games in it, and see if those work. If not, then something might be messed up with the console itself. But that's what i would do...

Can't upload a CD on my xbox

If you have the (fall update), you should have that option. When you put a game in make sure it isn't on auto-play. Under the play game box, the option to download to hard drive is the Y button. To burn normal music CD to your hard drive you will have to go to music, then current disc. There is no option for downloading an MP3 disc though. The console will only play MP3's. I hope this helps you friend.

What kind of movie? A DVD? This will sound obvious, but make sure you aren't using a HD-DVD or BluRay disc...sometimes its DVD on one side and another format on the other. If you are, in fact, using a regular DVD, clean it. If that doesn't help, use a DVD cleaner disc to clean your XBOX laser. You should also hook it up to the net so you can get the latest firmware update, just to make sure your media player functionality is enabled.

My son saved money and bought a Xbox 360 Arcade. He did not realize that he could not play his xbox games on his new system. Is there an upgrade to allow old xbox games to be played on on the xbox 360

Some game are compatible with the new xbox 360. They are called backwards compatible and you do need to flash upgrade the OS on the new xbox 360 system.

You need to go to the xbox website and go to support and download the flash update then burn it to disk and put it on the xbox to update the software. Again not all old games are compatible with the new xbox system. If your buying used games like I do make sure it says bc next to the title before buying them.
Here is the link to the upgrade

The Arcade model comes with no harddrive, no hdmi (for digital connection to an HDTV), and I beleive the controller is wired instead of wireless. If you are planning on just playing games then the arcade may be a good choice for you as it's cheaper but you may find yourself wanting a hard drive sooner than later. Without a hard drive you will not be able to purchase or rent movies and you will not be able to download game demos and Xbox Live Arcade games. To compensate Microsoft includes a disc with some of the greatest hits of XBox Live Arcade with the Arcade version. The Pro comes with a 20GB hard drive but still no HDMI. The Elite version has a 120GB hard drive and HDMI. For most people the Pro is the one to get. If you were to get the Arcade then purchase a hard drive later you will pay more than the price of the pro.
