First assumptions make sure u connected the monitor properly and all the cables and cords are hooked up and that you dont have a black out in your place or something
second if everythign is connected
then it might be your computer power supply
u can get cheap ones at cheapgeeks.com i am not trying to advertise for them neither am i affliatted with them but im just telling u how to simly fix ur prob
if its not the power supply
it might be ur video card
and u might have to replace tht as well

I have a hp pavilion a710n with a blank monitor when i turn it on.I replaced the monitor an (3) videocards later i still dont have anything coming thru the monitor.(everything else turns on fans harddrive ...

Try running a penny across the monitor's cable pins while powered on. If you contact a certain pin with the penny and the monitor exits sleep mode, your monitor is fine. If not, buy another one.

HP a400n monitors

Sure but you shouldn't need to tell the computer what type of monitor it is, windows should simply send the signal to the monitor and poof up comes your display, more advanced versions may auto-detect or youc an select it in the control panel under display. Try craigslist to pick up a cheap monitor in your area. I got a 15'' flat for 20 bucks.

My computer is a HP Media Centre PC m7470n with a HP vs 19e 19 inch Flat Panel LCD Monitor. I am a cable TV user. What additional hardware/software do I need to view TV programs on my monitor.

you need one of those tv tuner add-in cards for the pc. these are usually pci type of card that goes inside your pc. If you dont want to open up your pc, there are also usb type/model of these tv tuner. they also come with their own drivers and tv viewing software

HP Flat Panel Monitor is dead!

The power supply within the monitor has probably expired. HP doesn't do spare parts for their TFT monitors as they are Full Unit Replacement items (if in warranty).

Red vertical line.

Hi,

I will give you a small step through which you would be able to know whether its a hardware or its a software issue.

You need to log in to the BIOS. Do not change anything in the BOIS just check whether you have that red line in the BIOS.
If you see the line while you are in the BIOS, that means its a hardware problem and you need to contact the manufacturer (In this case HP ). You should get a replacement if its under warranty.

If you do not see the red line in the BIOS than it is a software issue and you need to start with reinstalling the Display drivers.

Note : - Steps to go to BIOS. ( Dont change anything in BIOS )
Turn off the computer
As soon as you turn it on start tapping the key "F2". ( "Del" in some brands).

Hope that will give you a good insight.
