This tool will reset the Windows Admin/User password & BIOS/CMOS password

This is the right tool for you!

Works on USB drives too so no need to burn onto a CD but i would recommend cd as it less hassle.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

I found a Dell tower when I turn it on though it came from a school. I want to upgrade it from XP Professional to Vista. How can I bypass the password and install vista

You do not need the pass to upgrade..
Try booting from your Vista CD. During installation, Vista will detect the XP and will ask you if you want to upgrade. If you do go with this. Otherwise you can proceed with a clean install (let Vista format the boot drive sector). Unless you need files from the XP installation, I would go with the 2nd option.

If it is a BIOS password than unfortunately there is not much you can do.

BIOS information is stored on a flash memory chip built into the motherboard so there is not battery you can simply remove to reset the password.

if you are talking about the Administrator password for Windows than use these instructions:

Petter Nordahl-Hagen has written a Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista offline password editor: home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/
  • This is a utility to (re)set the password of any user that has a valid (local) account on your Windows NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista system, by modifying the encrypted password in the registry's SAM file.
  • You do not need to know the old password to set a new one.
  • It works offline, that is, you have to shutdown your computer and boot off a floppy disk or CD. The boot-disk includes stuff to access NTFS partitions and scripts to glue the whole thing together.
  • Works with syskey (no need to turn it off, but you can if you have lost the key)
  • Will detect and offer to unlock locked or disabled out user accounts!
Caution: If used on users that have EFS encrypted files, and the system is XP or later service packs on W2K, all encrypted files for that user will be UNREADABLE! and cannot be recovered unless you remember the old password again! Download link:

If you have an Win XP installation disk simply insert on the drive, turn off and turn on the computer and run the win XP installation.

If you only want to get rid the password go to there:

I forgot my Administrator Password

you should be able to contact dell support and they should have you on file. when you first bought the computer and logged on the web you had to register your computer. dell should have this information on file, also because each windows program has a register number they might also have you on file. i would try this and it should solve the problem.. please rate this and also please reply back if it doesn't get solved..thanks
