To check the compressor remove the wire cover and wires from compressor. Mark or remember which wire goes where. Ohm out between run and start, run and common, you should have a reading across all terminals if not compressor is bad. Although you could still have a winding that is touching one another

Air conditioner blowing only warm air

possibly have a capacitor out on the compressor side of the a/c Since the unit works and its only blowing air the compressor isn't kicking in. The capacitor boosts the compressor to activate the compressor. I would have the capacitor to the compressor replaced first before going any further.

Good luck on your repair

Goodman AC worked great then stoped blowing cold. Fan blows strong and condensor is running. Filter is ok.

If the compresor is working (not only the fan outside) probably there's a refrigerant leak.

Air conditioner doesn't blow cold air. Continues

If the a/c fails to continue to blow cold there could be a few problems you can look for. First once you activate the system check to see if the compressor kicks in. You will hear the compressor humming . Once the a/c quits cooling go and see if the compressor is still running. If its not running its probibly gone into thermal overload (compressor overheated). If that is the case then you need to check to see if the coils are icing up if they are icing up then the problem is with 1) air flow restriction filter dirty, coils dirty simple repairs there replace filter, clean evaporator coil with a coil cleaner that can be purchased at a home repair store cleaning the condensor coil the same. 2) system is low on freon in which case the system will need to be recharged. Also, If you have a digital thermostat replace the batteries that may also be of some help. Good Luck on repairs

The unit turns on but the fan won't blow. Is it the fan motor?

hi! there,
well,if you think the unit turns as well as the compressor is running,no blowing of air, blower and fans are coupled at this type, if you hear hamming of blower fan,the capacitor is not working or theres no supply source on starting circuit.check capacitor disconnecting it besure switch breaker is off ,check performance using multitester,on resistance attached test rod to the two terminal of capacitor and tester set to 100k,if tester pointer deflect, then reverse the polarity of tester if deflect and sudden the pointer going back to original position, capacitor is good.if not go back the capacitor is busted,if not deflect its also defective.replace capacitor, have a nice day

When i turn on my camper ac, the fan will come on but nothing else.... the compresser does not come on. could it be the starting capacitor? do you sell parts? if so how much does a starting capacitor cost?

Most of these little compressors don't have a start cap on them. The motors in these little hermetics don't need them. You need to check that athe compressor is getting voltage to it. Check to see if rodents haven't tried to get on top and chew wires. Squirrels can and do cause lots of damage. If the compressor is being "told" to come on, and it doesn't, the compressor is bad. Parts are hard to come by on these little units. You will probably have to contact the manufacturer for a location neer you that sells parts.

hi! there, so your fan blower is fine, you gonna do is to find your ac source supply to your compressor as well your heating element switch off first your ac then if there over load preset relay check and reset, switch on if you find ok, good, there are things to check in this case if nothing happen.,take some tools clamp ammeter tester, screw driver, but this should be done by qualified a/c technician on a/c service technician,if you have the gots let move, be sure to off again you unit, on control circuit board panel there is a holding coils relay where your compressor get ac supply source open it by scerw driver try to find or using your diagram manual it help, check the resistance of your relay coil, set tester on R1 then test rod of tester attach to both end of terminal relay coil, if deflected the pointer of tester your ralay is good.but if not you have to replace your relay on circuit board, but sometime the circuit board is replaced.check also your thermostat disconnect it and test both terminal using tester rod also if deflected the pointer its fine if not your thermostat is defective your compressor will not run if you have busted thermostat.if all are find and replace put it back the cover of panel control and switch is on.observed take all precaution in doing this.regards and have a nice day from fixya.

I have a centrex split systum and it keeps reading e4 can anyone help

E4 = Compressor Overload: this code means that one of the safety overloads on the compressor has activated.

Diagnosis: the compressor has both an electrical and a temperature overload device built into it. The thermal overload will trip if the internal temperature reaches 154.4° Fahrenheit. This error can be reset by turning the unit off and allowing cool down before turning back on.

Blockage in the refrigerant circle,
(a high pressure on the liquid side, over 350 psig, and a low suction side, under 40 psig, indicates a blocked cap tube).
If a blockage is diagnosed, the system must be evacuated, blown back and cleared.
If this is the case
I recommended that a filter/dryer be installed in the vapor line before pumping down and recharging.

Condenser fan not working, if the compressor runs, but the fan does not, the motor or its capacitor may have failed. Repair or replace as necessary.

Compressor problem, if the compressor has developed internal faults, it could simply be starving for oil.
Any other internal problem with the compressor will mean replacement is necessary.

Compressor wiring, if the compressor and/or its capacitor have been wired incorrectly, the compressor could overload.
Rewire as necessary.
