Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Hello, I have a Gateway MT3419 computer that works almost perfectly; the screen is a big problem. Works well, then suddenly goes dark. Can still see images on the screen when tilted towards the light. Have worked around the problem by closing the laptop and then re-opening which makes the light magically come back on. Sometimes, works well for weeks or days without this happening. Other times, happens every few minutes. Very inconvenient to say the least. Warranty has expired so Mfg. says will charge a few hundred to fix. My local repair shop says the inverter needs replacing and will cost about $150 to fix, but that this may not solve the problem. A friend has suggested that the backlight is the problem. Any ideas? Worth fixing? Computer is a little over a year old. Thanks in advance!

Deffinitely worth fixing and be happy it will only cost $200 or less to fix.

Next time make sure you get the extended warrenty, there are 3rd party vendors such as found on amazon that covers this sort of thing.

M93p suddenly the screen goes black screen

Here's some tricks I would try...
1. Verify the monitor's power cord is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the back of the monitor.
2. Verify the monitor cable is firmly connected to the computer and the monitor.
3. Verify that you have turned the monitor power switch on.
4. If the power light on the monitor is not on, test the wall outlet (plug in a light or something you know works).
5. If the power light on the monitor is not on, try a different power cord.
6. If the power light is on and yellow or orange or flashing, but nothing displays, or the display is incorrect, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor probably needs replaced.
7. Also, you could try your display on a friend's computer. If it doesn't work, your monitor probably needs replaced. If it works properly on your friends computer, the problem may be with your computers video output port, motherboard video chip (or video card, if you have one), or drivers.

Good luck

Connect your monitor to a different computer, to confirm that it works at all.

Connect a different monitor to your computer, to confirm that the video-adapter in your desktop is working properly.

Attempting to install tft lcd monitor on new processer, have intall disc, but monitor will not come on ????

Hello.

Be certain that the install disc software works with your operating system. What specific monitor and your operating system (Windows 7, etc.).

Also, be certain that the monitor cable is connected to a USB port. Try another port.

When you said "not come on" do you mean no power or a dark screen ?

Try your monitor on another PC to see if monitor problem.

Hope this helps.

I OWN A GATEWAY COMPUTER SRL. NO. 0031624856 EVERY THINH WORKS PERFECT I JUST CAN'T GET THE VOLUM TO GO UP

Hi,
Do you have speakers attached or are we talking about the built-in speakers? Have you looked down in the right corner of your screen on your toolbar where you probably can see the time and look to see ifyou have an icon that looks like a little round, grey speaker? Double click on that icon and turn the volume up if you can?
Let me know if any of this works/makes sense.
Thanks,
Kaj

No Video Signal

Try resetting the bios. On the motherboard there is a battery that looks like a watch battery. Remove the battery, then replace it again. (make sure the computer is unplugged from the wall socket when you do this)

Does this work?

nvdia 6600 requires a minimum of 450 Watts of power to ensure that everything works properly. So if you want to continue using your nvdia card, an upgrade will be necessary.

If you want to test to see if it is the nvidia card, you need to remove the card physically from the system, then boot with the onboard video. This action will eliminate any conflicts between the two video cards. Before doing this you may need to go into device manager and make sure the onboard video card is not disabled.
