Problem with Apple iPod Nano Blue 8 GB MP3 Player

I just got an ipod nano 5th generation and the computer won't recognize it YET it recognizes my friends' 6th generation on the same laptop.It says "usb device not recognized."

Whats going on? Is my ipod broken?

Try resetting the ipod while its connected to the computer by holding both the menu and center button at the same time for 6-10 seconds until you see an apple appear on the screen. You may need to repeat the reset. If this fails your looking at a hardware issue most likely. Good Luck.
