You've damaged your TV's motherboard. Unfortunately, that the worst thin that could happen as it's an expensive fix. Contact your local tv repair shop and get a quote. Make sure that's it's close... most charge travel. Good luck!!

Our screen turns blue and goes to new devices input. We have nothing else connected to tv except Brighthouse cable box. If we push the exit button on the tv remote it then goes to showing a cable box and...

Your TV probably has multiple "inputs" (coax, HDMI, component, et cetera). Use the "input" (or "source") button on your TV to cycle through all those available "input" streams.

If you select "coax", and there is *NO* coax cable connected to the back of the TV, you *WILL* see the "blue-screen". Select a different source that is "active".

My Television turns on scans channels for cable then goes back to scan channel menu

Hello, if you can't receive any channels make sure the coax it sticking out past the fitting (enough to feel it past the ed of the fitting) reinstall the coax on the set, tighten it till it's snug do not over tighten it or you'll break off the fitting on the tv. if you still can't get anything try moving the set to another location that you know is working and see what happens. If you still can't get any channels the tv may have a bad tuner/ main board. tks

No sound on coax audio input from HDTV

Check your settings on your tv. You may have to turn off the internal tv speakers in the setup menu in order to get any audio output from the jacks on the back.

What channel does the tv have to be on - I have dish network - do I leave the dish off or on and move it to a certain channel?

First check what channel or input your TV is currently on bypowering the TV off then back on and noting the channel or input that appearson screen when the TV is powered on. If you are using a Coax Cable toconnect the receiver to TV1, check the receiver's back panel for the outputname. If your receiver has a "TV CH 3/4 out" (non-ViPReceiver): Tune TV to channel 3 or channel 4, if it has"Home Distribution" output (ViP Receiver): Tune TV to channel 62or 75. If using non-Coax (RCA, Component, or HDMI) to connectreceiver to TV1, cycle through the inputs until picture appears. In your casesince you have the Toshiba XDE500 connected between the receiver and TV, tuneTV and component to channel 3/4 (coax) or correct input. Hope this helps, andhank you for being a valued DISH Network customer!

The connector at the back of the tv where the cable would be connected broke off during a move. My step dad took the remaining piece out. How can we fix this? Is it a simple thing we can do ourselves?

The coax connector you describe is fairly low-tech, so it can be fixed. You need to open the back of the TV (careful - high voltage in the capacitors) and locate where it came from.

The best thing would be to take some coax cable and solder the appropriate parts (shield and center conductor) to their exposed matches where the break occurred.

You can then run that through the existing hole, put a screw-on F-terminal end on the piece of coax, and a coax coupler on that.

Home Depot, Lowes, Radio Shack, etc. all have these raw parts.

Coax that looks like RCA?

There is a distinct difference between coax and phono (rca) cabling. Coax, sometimes called RF, is a cable that carries audio and video at the same time, what we call a "modulated" signal. RF connections look as if they are threaded on the chassis of your TV or VCR etc. A lone "Phono" cable moves either audio or video, but not both at the same time, unlike coax.
If you are attempting to patch RF, your cable must be coax at both ends.  Hope that helps.

My TV is fine...problem happen when I was moving today, not sure what its called but its the silver projection located on the back of the TV is which you connect the cable on the wall too...it broke...

Hook the cable up to the VCR or if you don't buy a RF converter from radio shack or electronics store which will have a coax connector on it with component and Svideo to send to the TV. Select the connection (Component or Svideo) in the TV menu. If you only have the coax connector on the back of the TV without any other connection, you will need to get that tuner board replaced.
