Sondy Camcorder DCR-TRV240 rubber roller loose in tape door

Door would not open right away to remove tape. When it finally did, a small rubber roller came out with the tape. I wondered if anyone had a pic of the inside of the camera so I would know where it went and how it connnected.

I had the same problem and fixed it by placeing the roller into its place. In contrary to what one of the responses claimed, this is totally fixable. The only thing is that you have to find something to replace the white pin that may have been lost. This pin keeps the roller in place,

If a rubber roller came out and it is about 1/4" in diameter, that is the pinch roller and it can not be re-inserted without replacing the assembly that contains it. This is not a really expensive part, but getting to it and actually replacing it requires dis-assembly of the camera. This should not be attempted by anyone without experience. I'll look up the part number and cost and post it here.

Cassette deck will not open

It could be three things: 1) This can occur for when the image reading head of the camera is dirty and dusty, and the rubber rollers that drive the tape get contaminated as well. Either can result in the tape itself becoming caught on a rubber roller, (it wraps around the roller 10 or so times because the roller is driven by a motor) until the tape rolls expand the rollers outer diameter until it jams, and then jams the opening lever, or mechanism.
Fixing is difficult, as access to the (usually 2) screws that connect the cassette holder to the opening mechanism may only be accessible when the door is open. Look under stickers or plugs on the front of the door, and if the screws are there, carefully remove the door and unwind the jammed tape. Your cassette will play again after you clean the rollers and heads with a suitable cleaning kit from the supplier, but there will be image damage when the crumpled part of the tape gets played.
Be aware that forcing the door will usually snap the tape
which would then require re-splicing back together, and
it can also damage the heads and roller, but sometimes sacrificing the tape and taking this risk may be the only option.
Possibility 2) The internal 'door release clip' may have bent, broken or snapped a spring. Try toggling the 'open' button (if it is a mechanical buttonl) whilst gently prising open the cassette door with a thin knife. 3) If all buttons are electronic press buttons, try fresh batteries.
Failing all the above, consider a full service from your service depot or store.

My sony handycam dcr-hc26 door won't close. error C:32:11

Hi,
Remove battery/ power source from camcorder for minute, reattach battery/ power source and close the tape door.
If that does not solve problem then I'm afraid, tape mechanism got defective and will be replaced.
Let me know if you need tape mechanism part number info.
Thanks.

My camcorder tape door won't close

Try removing the battery for a few seconds, and then re-inserting. This seems to reset something on my DCR-TRV20, and it starts closing properly.

Video camera displaying Error code C:31:23

I have been fighting the same problem. I just now picked up the camera and a small rubber roller fell out of the tape door area. I was not sure where it came from but looking closer there are 4 small rods sticking up on the right side inside the area where the tape is located. It looked like this was where the roller went so I placed it on the center rod and replaced the tape. This solved the problem and I am now able to view and recored as before. There most likely is a part that has either fell or broken off or is loose inside the tape area.
