How do i increase my gmail account space

Gmail allows for quite a big amount of space but I don't think they offer a higher amount for a fee like some of the other webmail accounts do.

You may have no other option but to keep the spam folder emptied, empty the trash file and sort thru and delete any old mail you don't wish to keep.

Text itself doesn't amount to much space. It is photos, jpgs, and other attachments that take larger amounts of space so getting rid of all of that you don't need to save will free a lot of space for new mail.

Tip

How to keep a check on Email Spam?

Step 1: Set up "filters" in your Gmail account to automatically delete junk mail from specific senders. While spammers tend to change their email addresses frequently, you will sometimes get repeated spam messages from the same sender. Go into your "Settings," click "Filters," and set up a filter that automatically deletes all incoming emails from the sender.

Step 2: If you are getting junk mail from the same company, but the return address keeps changing, create a filter to delete the emails by detecting certain words. For example, maybe the company is called Global Moneymaking Enterprises. Create a filter that catches all emails that contain those three words and set it to delete them automatically.

Step 3: Rather than deleting junk emails that make it into your Gmail inbox, select them and click the "Report Spam" button. This will move the message into your spam folder, but it will also give Google information to help it improve its spam filter.

Step 4: Set up a special Gmail address that you use for making purchases, signing up for newsletters, and doing other activities that require you to give out your email address. Sometimes companies will opt you into promotional offers or sell your email address to spammers. Block this mail from coming to your main Gmail account by protecting that address and only giving out your special account address.

Step 5: If you notice a lot of junk emails in your spam folder that contain certain words, set up a filter to screen out emails with those words. Terms such as Viagra are common, but spammers often change them around to defeat spam filters, However, many of these changes are used frequently. For example, many spammers use the same Vi@gara misspelling. When you notice this, block those terms and you won't even get their messages in your Gmail spam folder.

Change your hotmail password immediately, someone else has access to your account. Run a full virus-scan of your computer with Microsoft Security Essentials or AVG Free - keep running scans until it comes up zero.

Yahoo accepted my user name and password but mail sent to my yahoo address goes to my outlook inbox which is still active and I wish to keep that account but would also like my new yahoo account. I would...

Could you please explain this more clearly? If I am not wrong you just open new yahoo account and set your outlook client to receive messages from Yahoo Mail service (as far as I know this is available in Pro option only).

I couldn't understand what do you mean:
"mail sent to my yahoo address goes to my outlook inbox which is still active and I wish to keep that account"

Outlook is a email software and you can add there as many accounts as you wish without losing any of them. Your question isn't clear for me but you do not need to be worried in any way of losing any of your accounts at all.

I get several electronic messages from everyone but one person how come?my husband has a lap top he communicate's with me from up north but...... he cannot send me pictures in my e-mail how come?

Hello. Have you looked at whether your husband's e-mail address and/or content is getting stuck in a SPAM or bulk folder or filtered? If you are using web-mail with Yahoo or Hotmail (for example), make sure to look in all your e-mail inbox folders online, or if you use Outlook check Junk Mail folders there.

Once you find any messages from him select the messages and click the options to mark his e-mail "safe" or "Not Spam." Also you can then move his messages to your inbox there online, using your web-mail account on the mail web site. Once you do this the rest should start coming through. Also you should add his e-mail address to your contacts list and that will help you mark his messages as "safe" or as a trusted sender. If he replies to your messages that can also help ensure you receive later messages from him.

One other option surrounds allowing images or photos in your e-mail, or HTML messages. Be sure to check those options under your preferences and set to allow the images if you want them. Use caution there however as if you get much SPAM mail, images can be trouble.

I WANT TO DELETED ALL SPAM THET I GET EVERYDAY

  • Complain to your ISP. If you receive an unrequested and unwanted message, forward it to your ISP. (Your ISP, such as BT Internet or a local operation, provides you Internet access and service.) Ask your access provider to block incoming mail from that address and to complain on your behalf.
  • Use an online blocking service. Check to see what filtering options your access provider or email service may provide to subscribers. America Online, for example, has a preferred mail option (keyword = preferred mail) to protect a user’s account from receiving email from known junk emailers. iVillage also has some filtering services in its email programme. Secondly, look at free online services such as Bright Light Technologies, with screens mail before your read it and promises to eliminate up to 90 per cent of spam without eradicating wanted email.

  • Install a filtering programme. There are dozens on the market. Two that we like are Spambuster, a shareware programme, or PC Spamkiller which has one of the highest ratings on the market.

  • Forward offenders’ names to websites committed to stamping out spam. Two examples are, the Blacklist of Internet Advertisers and SpamCop. Both are US sites, but then the States has a bigger problem with spam than the UK and Europe.
  • Complain to your ISP. To do this first you’ll need to make sure you have the right domain name (whatever follows the @ sign, such as @ivillage.com), since spammers often disguise their domains so nice people like you can’t find them to complain.
  • Visit the SpamCop site’s FAQ for tips on how to find domain names. Once you have the right domain, send complaints to the following standardised address: abuse@ (their domain); postmaster@ (their domain); root@ (their domain); admin@ (their domain).
