In power surges generally there should be an internal bus fuse that needs to be reset. this is to protect the internal circuitry and prevent not only the main board but fire as well to access this there is a rear panel on back of the unit. the reset should be in behind it near the power chord. please rate the solution.

We had a power failure and Kenmore stove showed pf and now loc. cannot get burners to turn on and cannot get loc off.

If you have a power failure or a brown out, it sends a very powerful current through the unit. Please keep in mind that these units are not protected against any surges. If you have a display, that means you have power. Unfortunately, the clock/timer contains relays that control the elements, the oven, etc. You will need to replace the clock to get it running again.

Whirlpool Range RF366PXGW. I had the oven at 350. The Stove started beeping, I think it said F1 or F2 I turned the dial to off. Then I noticed the oven did not go off, the top element stayed on. Had to...

all repairs on your range should be performed by an authorized service person. F1 is an electronic oven control (EOC) malfunction. F2 is also and EOC issue. as far as the burner the surface control switch contact might be in the closed position. this can cause the burner to stay on. in that case replace the control switch. the PF code= a power failure. push cancel on the EOC to clear the PF code.

What does PF stand for

On my range, it means that there was a power failure. Just press Off/Cancel to clear the message. Reset the clock if needed.

If this is happening frequently, check the wiring and the control board itself. (Sometimes a power failure will be preceded or followed by a power surge that can damage the electronics of the control board. Lightning strikes are a common cause of the surge. If a surge has damaged the board, the control board will need to be replaced. Depending on the color of your range, this is a $130 to $300+ part.)

I hope this helps. Please add a comment if other errors are being displayed or have recently been displayed.

We had a power surge coulpe days ago and now the ranger doesn't work. You turn on the burner the light goes on put no heat and on the display it say PF. What should I look for? Thanks, Bill king

"PF" is a Power Failure alert, as you probably have figured out by now. According to the owner's manual for the model you have listed, you need to press "OFF" on the control panel anytime "PF" appears to clear. The, reset the clock if required. If this does not correct the problem, you may have a defective control board.

These control boards are often suseptible to power surges and electrical storms. If you determine the board to be defective, the following link explains step-by-step how to replace one:

Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following websites:

Prices vary between these sites, so shop and compare. The first three sites listed also offer helpful exploded view diagrams to help you locate and properly identify the parts you need. Hopefully, this is just a simple operator intervention issue that does not require parts.

If you have any questions please post back and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

Sears Kenmore Elite Oven 790.99123405 Caught Fire!!!

The PF indicates a power failure.
The range experienced a loss of electrical power.
This code is usually cleared by pressing the CLEAR/OFF button.
If you continue to get this code, you may need to unplug the range and check the wiring connections of the power cord on the back of the range.

PF on Whirlpool super capacity 465 electric Stove Model RF366PXGW2

PF = Power Failure. Sounds like you have a bad electrical connection. With your breaker off, check that the connections from the cord to the range are all good and tight. Next, check the receptacle where the cord plugs in. Remove the cover and check the connections there as well. Examine the power cord also. There could even be a poor connection at the breaker box (at the circuit breaker or the neutral buss bar) but not as likely, as your problem appeared when you moved your range.

Kitchenaid electric range

This one can be a little tricky. I really need to know a lot more information to give you a good answer. You are right pf does mean power failure. This is detected by your power board the is located under the cooktop. If you select cancel the pf should disapear and you should be able to use your oven. You didn't mention whether the control board displayed the pf before you actually tried the oven. If it did, and it gives you that error every time you use the cooktop for a period of time, you could have a problem with the thermister located right behind the console. To remove the console just remove the screws on the under side then lift the console straight up and off.
