Installing Windows 8

Have you check the hardware compatibility on the Computer? There is a minimum spec requirement to run windows 8. Is it a 32 or 64 bit windows 8? The HP A720N was available for sale in Sept. 1, 2004. I doubt if it will run win 8. The Ram and Graphics are going to be a big issue. Take a look at this Min. Requirements: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/system-requirements If you can, return Win 8. Looking at your specs, I don't think you can run Win 7? http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/system-requirements Perhaps Vista.

MY DEL DESKTOP 531 THE DISK CLEANUP HAS NOT BEEN WORKI NG & MY BACK UP HAS NOT BEN WORKING AS I CAN NOT DELETE OR KNOW WHAT TO DELETE BUT I CAN'T DO THAT NOW

Wow! Where to start? First of all if the computer has Windows XP loaded on it that is no longer supported by Microsoft. If you want to re-install an OS (operating system software) I would suggest Windows 7.

Wont to upgrade graphic card my p.c has 2gig max ram in it wonts should i upgrade to to preform its best cheers mike

Depends on what kind of hardware you have
-Memory- 2 gb ram is "ok" if you use windows XP but if you have Vista or Windows 7 you should have a minimum of 4gb ram.
-Processor- if you have a Dual core processor you are ok, if you have a p4 or p3 you dont want to waste money on a new graphics card because it will not help you get better games, your processor and memory will slow you down instead.
So my advice is, if you have a OK computer, go ahead with buying a new graphics card if you computer is old and slow, DONT buy a new card! put your money on +2gb ram instead (cheap, and gives you more benefits) or maybe buy an "upgrade package" with new motherboard-memory-processor.

My old computer that I have XP on is just too slow. I hate Windows 7 and do not care for Vista. My problem is that I am told that my new computer will not run XP because it is 64 bit. Two questions: Is...

Xp will run fine on any PC but it may not utilise all of your ram and CPU cores. You will get more performance from your machine if you use a 64 bit operating system but XP will run.

2 problems, monitor color and update possible?

well it sounds like the color scanning chips in the monitor are going<have gone> bad. If you have access to another monitor I would hook it to your system and see. XP may run, depends on your processor speed and RAM amount, also graphics can be an issue in XP

many new vista systems will not work with slightly older equipment as Windows and many mfrs. do not want to spend the time, money and effort to develope divers, this is in a attempt to have consumers buy the newer vista compatable products downgrade to windows xp Pro as vista gives you these rights

Building a computer.....

If your buying a New Video Card then then it will come with a driver disc anyway (or atleast it should do).
As for if Windows will pick it up automatically, that really depends on how old/new the video card is that you decide to buy, and also what version of Windows your running. You can say almostt any old/new video cards will be compatable under Windows XP Service Pack 2,  however fairly Old Models of Cards probably won't work on Vista.
