Hi there
it sounds like your keyboard is set to an american style layout.
if the @ key shows up as a " mark and vice versa then you just go to the blue bar at the bottom of the screen on the right hand side you will see the letters EN double click on it and the option to change from english us to english uk will be there. change to english uk and then remove the us version completely as it can default back to it, restart your machine and you should be o.k.

Sounds like your keyboard drive is not set right. Do you have a special keyboard with programmable functions? Try changing your keyboard driver. Google your keyboard model + drivers and see if one comes up you can download. Then replace current driver and see if that resolves your issue. It's not a laptop is it? If so, that's another matter.

You have your keyboard set as US. If you go into control panel, open Regional and Language options and change all of the settings with a country to UK. That will solve your problem.

this is quite common, right click on my computer>properties>hardware tab>device manager, then look down the list to KEYBOARD, click the '+' sign and the keyboard will be listed, right click, select uninstal.

Restart pc and your keyboard will reinstall and should work as normal.
