Question about Frigidaire Refrigerators

FRIGIDAIRE NOT KEEPING FOOD COLD OR COOL

I am curious on the control knob if you turn it to 6 if that is warmer or colder. My knob goes from 1 to 6. I have turned the knob to 4 1/2 and it seems like it isn't getting any colder.

Higher settings always equal 'colder.' I've never seen a refrigerator/freezer that was in good condition and didn't perform well with the control set to only half of the scale available.
I don't know how old your unit is, or if it has ever been moved, but you may have lost coolant over time or the fan that forces air through the condenser coils under the cabinet may not be running.
You should feel some warm air coming through the front grill while the compressor is running. If you don't, then the coils are unable to dispose of the heat collected from inside the cabinet. These coils do gather a ton of dust over time that reduces their efficiency so you might want to check behind that grill to see how much has accumulated there and carefully remove as much as you can without disturbing the coils too much since they are kind of fragile.
Removing the grill for access is always kind of a challenge but most are held in place by spring clips.

Temperature

Hello R, thank you for your question! Generally speaking it is recommended that the temperature knob is set in the middle for both the refrigerator and freezer compartment for top mount refrigerators. The temperature can be adjusted by moving the knob in small increments, allowing the temperature to stabilize. If you desire a colder temperature, then turn the knob towards COLDER, or for warmer temperature, turn the knob towards COLD. Turning the refrigerator control will change temperatures in both compartments. For example, if the refrigerator control is turned to a colder setting, the freezer control may have to be adjusted to a warmer setting. Turning the freezer control will only change the freezer temperature. Hope this proves to be helpful!

My refigerator is not keeping things cool. It was working ok until, the other day, I turned down the termostat by 1 from 5 to 4, and there was an audible click. Sounded like a fuse blew or something, the...

Sounds like you just happened to be near the defrost cycle timer as it was ready
to start the cycle and the movement was just enough to start it. You should actually
be turning the cold to a higher number (from 5 to 6 instead) and make sure that
if you have an adjustment knob in the freezer that it is set to the middle and not
to "colder" This knob controls the vent which allows cold air into the fresh food
compartment below. If it is set all the way to "colder" it will almost completely
cut off cold air flow to the lower compartment. Also if you have a thermometer
use it to set the temperature between 36 degrees and 39 degrees in the fresh
food compartment, it should stay in the fridge for 24 hours for an accurate reading.
hope this helps.

Why is my refrigerator not working properly? well , since I got it I have problems because it never seems to get cold or work properly. I think it might be cause it is digital.

This product comes equipped with an Adaptive Defrost Control (ADC). To activate manual defrost, press and hold the Freezer temperature UP (WARMER) key while pressing the Fresh Food temperature DOWN (COLDER) key 5 times within 6 seconds. A "d" in the freezer temperature window and "F" in the refrigerator temperature window will display when the heater is activated. To deactivate manual defrost, press and hold Freezer temperature UP (WARMER) key while pressing the Fresh Food temperature DOWN (COLDER) key 5 times within 6 seconds. "d" and "F" will be displayed until the defrost cycle is complete. (approx. 8 minutes)

I have a HSBO3 compact refrigerator and all my food is freezing. Which way is colder on the settings?

Hi, normally the lower the number, the colder the temp. But, if its not numbered, I would suggest to listen to it when it is on first. Then slowly turn the stat knob all the way left and see if the unit comes to a halt. If it continues to run, turn it slowly to the right. Which ever direction shuts it off will be the warmer direction to turn the temp up or down.Let me know how it goes as you may have a faulty stat control also. Keep me posted and good luck,

Freezer section is working but refridge not very cold.

check the vent that lets air from the freezer goes to the refrigerator. A control knob operates the amount of opening through the vent with a flap. makes the flap is not stuck, and responds to the knob, this is all mechanically link.

Refrigerator does not get cold

In your freezer section, there should be a "control" for the freezer temp. I say "control" because the knob is attached to a flap that only controls airflow the the lower section. If the knob is turned to coldest it will block almost all of the air from getting into your fresh food section.

Temperature control

I have a danby mini fridge and freezer and noticed the same problem. The temperature dial has NO NUMBERS ON IT! it just has a strip that goes from light to dark blue. That's it. I looked in the manual and it doesn't say anywhere which way is colder...it makes sense that the darker the blue the colder the temperature but why keep us guessing?
