Try the new version of your software Touchpad to run in windows 7... this problem occur when operating system incompatible with that program.

Go to your Dell Home website to download such freeware. Good luck!

reinstall the driver for your touchpad. If you have the driver cd with you, insert it and run the program. Look for the driver for Touchpad / Pointing Stick and install.
You can also download the driver from the dell support site or go to the link below http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=INS_PNT_PM_1525&os=WLH&osl=en&catid=&impid=

click on Download for "Touchpad / Pointing Stick and install. Restart your computer and you should be able to scroll from your touch pad.

Or your touch pad malfunctioning. its best that you use an usb mouse for your scrolling.

Never a good idea to downgrade BIOS revision. Could cause you to have to replace the system board if it doesn't install properly.

To enable the touchpad scroll features, you you have to install the touchpad driver. The basic touchpad features work without the driver installed but the scrolling requires it.

How do i get the scroll on the side of my dell inspiron 1525 to work again?

You will need to go to the support section over at Dell and enter in your service tag from the bottom of the laptop. You then need to look in the "drivers" section and download the Dell Synaptics Touchpad drivers and install them. That should bring your scrolling area of the touchpad back to life.

The scroll function doesn't work

Download the latest driver for the synaptics touchpad for your laptop from support.dell.com. Most likely the driver for your touchpad was not fully installed or may have been damaged. Install that and you could get the scroll on your touchpad back.
